Rocky-I was a classic 'cause of the storyline. Personally, I never liked Stallone and thought he should've stuck to the First Blood movies. As a fighter, he's laughable. Carl Weathers makes a believable boxer. Stallone just looks like a clown. No style, no rhythm, no moves. Looks like an idiot in the ring. He didn't get much better for Rockys 2 through 6.
Wepner, Tex Cobb... there's been a lot of "defense-challenged" fighters in history. But they still have that "boxer's pose". That is, they can throw believable punches 'cause they're professional fighters. Stallone it looks like someone tried to do an intensive crash course on him on how to look like a boxer, and failed miserably. You can play the part of "I'll-take-your-10-punches-to-give-you-one" and still make it halfway believable. Mickey Rourke in the wrestling movie, now there was a believable rendition of an athlete. But Stallone looked like a buffoon out there.
gadiator was great not seen that in years lol any1 seen street of gold thats agd film with wesley snipes
Hard Times was first released under the name Street Fighter over here - great film
Power of One was the stephen dorff (check him out in Felon !) one which i seem to remember was quite good - but only seen it once. Gladiator another good one as said.
Apart from the obvious ones mentioned Price of Glory is not bad - Jimmy Smitts raising three sons all boxing pros, one extrememly talented the other two not so but still main contenders. Thats worth watching.
Not seen the Jon Favreu on Marciano one but may check it out
Don't bully fat kids - they've got enough on their plate
