Like Abdullaev, Torres, Quintana, N'dou, etc. And he has the name fighters under his belt also. You don't have to be a fan of the guy but don't blind yourself to the truth as to make up your own reality. If you don't like him, so be it. Just leave it at that.
That's a damn good post. Too many times I've read how Cotto's list of opponents doesn't measure up somehow, and that is total B.S. in my opinion. Just because the guy isn't a household name, doesn't make him a bum. I've personally been to several of Cotto's fights, and have followed his career since the beginning. And sure, it's easy to say "so-and-so" was a bum after Cotto has beaten him. But in actuality, there's been very few soft opponents on his record. The first "break" I ever saw Cotto take was his fight against Gomez, and even then, there are those who would give Gomez more credit than I do.

So well said, blegit. You took the words right out of my keyboard.

you shouldn't be laughin so much cause at least it was against a fighter who was thought to be game and now under suspicion of using illegal wraps, not brutally against an old fighter who was very much passed it like your man Haye

and you'd be the first in line to watch David Haye's nude calender shoot, you'd probably volunteer to hold his fire hose if he was doing a firefighter shot

    3-0

and i know you're gonna try and blast me with some bullshit diss about Morales, but the only difference is Erik is a legend and Haye is about to get KTFO AGAIN!!! lol

Not sure if I can really say that all his opponents are top world class champions. I see the guys in his resume and who they have beaten and they are not top world class opponents unless I am missing something. I see an old Zab Judah and a decision vs Mosley that could have gone either way. Other opponents in his resume seem to have a good record but, against who?

There seems to be an exciting list of top quality big name opponents who are young and in their prime that Cotto could face in the near future, let's see what happens.

Ricardo Torres became WBO jr.welter champ and has wins over Kendall Holt (by tko none the less) and Mike Arnaoutis

Randall Bailey is still making noise at 140

Paulie Malignaggi went on to become IBF jr.welter champ and has wins over Edner Cherry, Lovemore N'Dou and Herman Ngoudjo (who's still a threat at 140)

Demarcus Corley former champion and had tested both Judah and Mayweather before him

Carlos Quintana was undefeated and had just beaten (then undefeated) Joel Julio, he later went on to win the WBO welterweight title being the only fighter to beat Paul Williams

Victoriano Sosa went the distance with Mayweather Jr and was stopped in 4 by Cotto

You've always questioned Cotto's list of opponents, and I've always told you why it's better than what you'd make it out to be. Again, not saying that "all his opponents are top world class champions", but... who can you say that about? And yet, Cotto HAS consistently faced good, young, tough opponents... some of whom have been avoided by other fighters. Abdullaev and Torres fall on that list. Also, Miguel was fighting guys with great records very early in his career. His resume is NOT full of guys with 0-0, or 1-10 records, as other coddled fighters are... and WELL into their careers, I might add. So we continue to disagree. You see Miguel as not having a bunch of "top world class champions" on his resume... and I see him as having as impressive a resume, if not more, than a lot of top fighters in the world today.

Yup, Cotto has defeated more undefeated fighters than Floyd Mayweather Jr. did.

I mean undefeated records don't really mean much nowadays. He's fought very good opposition but how many were undefeated doesnt mean a lot. Lovemore Ndou was better then Kelson pinto
