    Im pulling for Gerry, but this is a dangerous fight for him. I just cant see his old legs keeping him out of harms way too long, though he has a very good chin so who knows. But, I think this will be a case of him being too tough for his own good and will have to be saved from himself in the middle to late rounds.

    I'm sure there HAVE been. Nothing uncommon to the sport. I can't think of any off the top of my head. However, maybe I'm biased, but the fights I've been to here in PR have been pretty well reffed and judged.

    I'll take your word for that... No worries at all if the ref is Puerto Rican and 1 judge is Puerto Rican and 2 others were American (Is Puerto Rico an American territory? )

    I dunno if Killa was banned...

    there have been bad calls as well, one i remember was the Santos/Margarito II fight, i saw it in person in Bayamon, and i wasn't the only one there that thought Antonio was winning, and well although i don't argue it so much, cause he seemed ready to quit, Cotto/Corley comes to mind

    Santos-Margarito I'll agree with (I was there, too). But Cotto-Corley.... no way. Corley was on his way to an ugly KTFO loss. The ref only saved him from further pain.

    Santos-Margarito I'll agree with (I was there, too). But Cotto-Corley.... no way. Corley was on his way to an ugly KTFO loss. The ref only saved him from further pain.
    that's how i saw it, Corley didn't really want anymore of Cotto, he just put on a show so no one would call him a quitter but honestly that's all i think he really wanted to do

    Gerry should consider retiring for good if he loses this one. I don't think he will be going anywhere that far win or lose after this fight. 122 top dogs are just too much for him. I see this as a farewell fight for him.

    just reviewed some videos of LOPEZ fights........i say whew!!!

    Indeed a tall order for our boxer Gerry Penalosa.Nevertheless,i still put my vote on a Gerry UPSET WIN.
    Nonito Donaire will soon be a name to reckon with...

    It’s hard to find a fan or boxing writer who will give Penalosa much of a shot of upsetting Lopez.

    Maybe it’s because at 36, Penalosa is 11 years older than Lopez. Perhaps it’s the belief that the Filipino veteran’s 62-bout pro career, which has spanned 20 years, has taken its toll on his body.

    If the perception is that Penalosa is an “old man,” fans who tune into the
    Boxing After Dark broadcast might be in for a surprise.

    Penalosa (54-6-2, 36 KOs) is one of the sport’s most well-preserved world-class veterans. The Philippines-born southpaw is a complete fighter with skill, technique and athleticism that is on par with elite advanced-age fighters like Bernard Hopkins, Juan Manuel Marquez and Shane Mosley.

    Penalosa also possesses a warrior’s heart that matches those pound-for-pound entrants, and he truly believes his combination of skill, experience and courage will be enough to upset the young KO artist.

    “Lopez has never met a boxer like me,” Penalosa said. “He’s never fought anyone with my experience. I think he’s had easy opponents until now. This time is for real. He’s fighting a real a fighter. I’m a real veteran of boxing.”
