What ever... whoever you're talking about is a fully grown man who you're a fan of (as in look up to)... so it's just embarassing for you to call him 'my boy'

As an avid fan, I think it's okay to claim certain boxers as "your boy"... It's just an expression meaning you're rooting for those boxers... Fans has all the rights since we pay and patronize their fights... You know customers has all the rights...
