Mayweather has always been concerned about his legacy and he will NOT want to be seen as the second best fighter of his era. He has to fight Pac and he has to win - it means everything to him and I think that part of the reason he is fighting Marquez first is because what better way to prove that he really is and always has been the man than by coming out of retirement and beating first the no2 lb4lb fighter and then beating the no1. (BTW I am not saying that these fights are a foregone conclusion, just guessing that this is Mayweather's thinking).
Put simply, no way is Floyd ducking Manny - he can't afford not to fight him if he wants to be considered the greatest fighter of his era... And he does want this, he wants this so bad he is coming out of retirement and risking his undefeated record to try to get it. Despite what a lot of people say about him ducking fights, that my friends shows balls.
