If anybody can beat Mayweather it's Pac. The best anybody has looked against Floyd since Castillo was Zab Judah. Pac nearly as quick, hits harder, and doesn't fold. I give Pac a good chance because evidence shows that a fast southpaw can give Floyd trouble. I think the men are similar sized, and Pac's style is much more judge friendly.
The biggest knock on Pac is that his JMM victories are suspect. This comes down to matchups. Marquez is probably the toughest out there for him from a matchup point of view. In another thread, somebody accurately compares JMM's skill and to Kostya Tzsyu and points out that KT was brilliant against Pac-type fighters. He could neutralize speed with timing and counterpunch brilliantly. Well, Pac has managed to have two extremely close fights with a guy who is his worse matchup AND is P4P #2 in the world. Marquez is an amazing fighter who has gotten better with age. Even if you think he lost to Marquez, it doesn't diminish much from from the equation.
I'm not picking Pac in this fight just yet, but I will give Mayweather all credit if he takes this fight. It's by far his biggest risk, even more than Cotto. No knock on Cotto, but it comes down to the matchup.
Nobody knows Pacman's game better than Roach. He mentioned that something clicked inside him during the Diaz fight that even he was surprised. So I wouldn't rely on how he faught against Morales or JMM before. Pacquiao evolved into a complete fighter of the sport.

Zab Judah is a defensive oriented counter puncher.
Pacquiao goes straight forward and tries to plow through you with smart aggression. Zab caught Mayweather with the counter left off of Mayweather lunching.
I don't think Floyd would have to worry about Pacquiao waiting for him to throw in an attempt to counter him.

If there was a such thing as a "bigger version of Pac" then that hypothetical fighter would probably be top 10 ATG. Pac is what he is because of his size. He has ridiculous power for his size, which is why he was succesful at his lower weight classes, his speed was around the same as his opposition, but his power was always greater for the most part.. Now that he's moving up, he will be fighting "slower" guys with more power.. For there to be a "bigger Pac" then thats almost impossible..
Pac is moving up to fight Floyd, but Floyd has had the most trouble with smaller faster guys, not bigger heavy fisted guys.. So i would agree with Rozzy in saying that Pac poses more of a threat than Cotto. I think Floyd could slick his way through a Cotto fight and stay on the outside. Pac is faster than Cotto with plenty of power which in my opinion is more dangerous.
I'm going to have to watch PBF/Castillo and PBF/Judah again to really get some good insight on this potential matchup....

Agreed, it is the only thing that has me uneasy. Mayweather easily beats an orthodox-Pacman but the fact that he is southpaw will give him a lot more trouble. On the flip side, PBF hadnt fought a southpaw in quite a long time. Many of the mistakes in the first 4 rounds will be fixed in training camp I am sure. They had (virtually) no prior experience with southpaws, so Roger and Floyd wouldnt know exactly what to work on. Im sure they will study that fight a whole lot and fix those mistakes because Mayweather was able to survive the 4th round against Judah but I doubt he would against Pacquiao.
Agreed with the second paragraph as well.
I doubt PAC will do it especially if Judah becomes PBF's sparring partner so he can get accustomed to fast southpaws. But I bet b/c of the southpaw issue, this will be his hardest fight. I agree about Cotto too.I'm not picking Pac in this fight just yet, but I will give Mayweather all credit if he takes this fight. It's by far his biggest risk, even more than Cotto. No knock on Cotto, but it comes down to the matchup.
