I think it's not before time. It's about time someone put an end to the Bob Arum / Don King gravy train. I particularly don't like Arum, he's slimy little S.O.B. Unlike most I don't have much of a problem with Don King. He loves boxing and you have to give a man credit for staying on top for as long as he has. But anyway, I think promoters who were ex-fighters or current fighters are more *likely* to be on the boxers side than some NEVER boxed, NEVER trained, NEVER did any type of 1 on 1 unarmed combat promoter. You hear me Frank Warren ?
Don't get it twisted, boxing is a business. There will always be the Kings, Arums, Warrens, Palles etc. A promoter is there (like a promoter in any industry) to make money as a business. What happens is promoters get
contracts with fighters that don't have the means or connections to book
fights themselves. By the time the fighters do have the means they are still under contract and at the mercy of the promoter.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
Saw the Barrera vs Hamed fight last night just to pass time and noticed that Hamed also had his own promotion thing going on. Even Mills Lane "Let's Get it On" Promotions.
