The first was dark and close to being a horror film. The second one took the series in the wrong direction in my opinion. T2 and Rise Of The Machines, like Killersheep alluded to with the explosions comment, were both action films.

Horror film exactly !
Why is everything aimed at the 16-25 market what about people who want to see some depth ?
Rise of the machnes was not great it was not in the Terminaitor mould though ,as action films go it was clever and a good spectacle .
I was really hoping this could turn it around and get deep and dark instead of being just another summer big money flop , I'm gutted .

This trailer pretty much sums it up.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
I heard Bale uses that stupid Batman voice again, yawn, that's why I still haven't seen the Dark Knight.
Was gonna make a thread, but i see you already beat me too it by over a month. I loved The Terminator it used to be my favorite, film as a little kid and i still love it.
I used to like the 2nd one better, but now i appreciate the 1st one more now. Because its darker, better acting, ETC.
I still like the 2nd one but after watching them both again, the 2nd one feels too much like a hero movie aimed at young teenagers. Where as the 1st one is violent, very dark, and the atomsphere of it at night, is just really special.
Terminator Salvation sucked and its nothing like the future IMO, that James Cameron had in mind, it just doesn't even feel like a Terminator movie to me. Atleast the 3rd one although it wern't much better, had atleast The Terminator feel to it.
The Terminator 10/10
The Terminator 2 9/10
The Terminator 3 6/10
The Terminator 4 4/10
