This article kinda goes someway to explaining why it ain't on HBO
Calderon gets respect, but not from the networks
It's obvious why the TV aren't interested in little fighters like Calderon.
What's interesting in that piece is - anyone that thinks the Ring P4P list is the daddy of all rankings, check how the writer, Doug Fisher, uses P4P lists from other sites to highlight how highly regarded Calderon is, ignoring the fact his own firm doesn't have him rated.
3-Time SADDO PREDICTION COMP CHAMPION.
So no co-feature??Again.Usually they re-air the main event of a previous PPV.At times I think HBO is severly overrated in its 'rockstar' mindset.
HBO will rather broadcast Real Sex #83 or somethin than the calderon fight. Lol
Even if he was considered more exciting, HBO just isn't in the business of showing 108 pound guys fighting each other.
I really got mad yesterday when I read in the local newspaper that Calderon fight was being taken out of the transmission because they needed the space for the Dark Night movie (Batman). Dam, this was really disappointing. I really don't know why people don't pay as much attention to the low weights, when they display such as great talent, I guess this is something that the true boxing fan should appreciate. We can watch Floyd dancing in the ring for 12 rounds, but we can not watch Calderon doing the same just because he weights 40 pounds less. Guys Calderon is one most (if not the most) skillfull boxers today. He has an amazing ability, unfortunately he does not have the KO punch to be attractive enough to the TV. Still I consider Calderon the best of his division today, and one of the best of all times in his division (and I am not saying this just because I am from Puerto Rico).
Puerto Rico, Small Island, Big Champions!!!
