I thought it was a good win for Cotto, just though. The fight was there for Clottey to win and he seemed more intent on attracting a foul than winning the fight to make up for the knockdown in round 1. Cotto showed toughness to keep fighting with that cut too, a good fight though in all.

Just saw a Cotto post fight interview. doesn't look like he favors a rematch and is looking to make some money. He said he wants to fight the best in the division and the best in boxing.

I don't see what a rematch would do for Cotto. He always leaves his fight choices to his team anyway rather than pick his own.

IMO Clottey didn't do enough for the W, and that was while Cotto had a huge gash on his brow, IMO he wouldn't of been nearly as effective if Cotto wouldn't have gotten butted

And at the same time you can say that Clottey would have stopped Cotto if he was never thrown down

He wasn't thrown down, that was clear. He was putting it on big time. The ref saw straight through him too.

And he still hurt his left knee from being thrown down. The ref saw straight through him. And I supposed Clottey stopped throwing the jab and the left hook after that because his knee was fine? He wasn't putting it on you can't fake a stoppage of offense and nearly falling down whenever you tried to push forward on your left. If that was true then Clottey should win an Oscar

So Regardless of what happened by the end of the 10th a round which Clottey won Cotto already had a draw in the bag and you can't tell me that Clottey robbed himself because in those 10 rounds were where Clottey was strong and punishing Cotto. So Clottey was getting robbed regardless.
...... just look at that observation. Kinda like my teen, just does enough to get by. I think it is one of the key ingredients to really great fighters is they have that no quit attitude and Clottey's attitude is one where he thought he did enough to win. Cotto on the other hand didn't quit and pulled it off!

It wasn't the biggest factor in the fight so i'm prepared to give you the benefit of the doubt. If it was hurt he did well to recover because Clottey did well in rounds 8,9 and 10 and seemed to have no trouble coming forward.

yeah but he had stopped setting stuff up with his jab and his left hook and thats what made him effective early, he was setting Cotto up with the jab and left hook, after being thrown down if he tried to start it off he came off balance and he only ran in with combinations, he wasn't trying to set stuff up anymore and that was a huge factor. After that point Clottey was looking to corner on Cotto and throw combinations. But he had stopped setting things up with the jab and left hook which are his money punches. So hurting his left knee was a huge factor as you could make the argument after he was thrown down the jab and left hook set ups disappeared

So perhaps one big difference in the fight was that Cotto was better able to adapt and keep fighting where as Clottey was not able to adapt as well to the problems facing him. At this level there are always things to overcome in a fight and a true champ can adapt and overcome.

ok lets say Cotto hurts his left leg and he can no longer use his jab or his left hook effectively, you think he'd adapt better to that? or to a cut?

Given the way both guys responded to their problems i think Cotto would have adapted to a leg injury fine. Clottey was looking for excuses. Cotto could have used the cut as an excuse but continued to fight.

Except he didn't, in the post-fight interview he said it didn't affect him, just that he twisted onto his knee when he fell & was sore for a few minutes
