I'm going to have to rewatch it also. The reason being, is that it seemed to me that both fighters, whenever, or atleast very often, when thry had their man trapped on the ropes and in trouble...would simple back away and let them out. Cotto would do it. I'd go wtf u doing? Clottey would do it. I'd go wtf u doing?

Anyone else see that, or did it just stand out for me how much it actually happened? I'll really have to rewatch it I guess.

Clottey lost a close fight fair and square to a BETTER fighter. No reason to feel sorry for him.

Clottey blocked some shots but Cotto also started to loop his hooks around the guard and shoot the right between the gloves when Clottey was on the ropes, he wasn't landing devastating shots but he was landing, a lot of Clottey's shots weren't landing either especially when Cotto played the ropes, so don't know why people are bringing up the hitting on the gloves, let's be honest here, Clottey put up a great fight but IMO he never really hurt Cotto, and if he wasn't able to capatilize against a one eyed Cotto, in a rematch i don't see him doing much better, IMO if there's a rematch and Cotto doesn't get a huge gash like the one from last night, he would most likely outbox Clottey a lot easier the second time around, honestly looked to me that Cotto was the stronger guy out there, he would push his way to get Clottey on the ropes, and even if he didn't land it all, he kept his man there, Clottey against a one eyed opponant couldn't, he put up a great effort but IMO Cotto deserved the win, like i said i had Cotto ahead by a round, could easily be 2, no way in hell by 5 points, but a 114-113 score for Cotto is no robbery

Here is a post fight pic of Clottey getting his knee examined at the hospital.

Seriously though, it was a close fight and he did enough to earn a rematch IMO. He lost the fight by coasting the last two rounds. Cotto gritted it out.

No way, he just made bank, and didnt really lose too much credibility. He may even be ranked higher in some peoples minds after the fight. People that underrated him.

I dont feel bad for Clottey

If anything I lost repect for him . How many times did he try to get a DQ. He was always complaining trying to buy time or get out the fight . He was worse than Bernard vs Joe.

Maybe Miguel Cotto deserved to win a close decision, but i do disagree about Miguel Cotto landing the cleaner shots. I see Joshua Clottey landing the cleaner more accurate punches, and i hate to use punchstats because they are at times inaccurate.

But i think they were correct showing that Joshua Clottey landed at a higher percentage, because i certainly see it that way aswell before i even knew the punchstats.

Okay, I logged in real quick to pm Bilbo, and decided to throw in a few posts. You know I have to regarding a Cotto fight.

No, I don't feel bad for Clottey, he has no one to blame but himself. He took some rounds off, and gave the fight to Cotto. He fought well, but he lacks heart, and will.

I have to say, I did lose some respect for him and his over dramatic bullshit. It reminded me of this......

And this was Clottey to the audience, as he walked around the ring after the fight.

IMO , Clottey got what he wanted , he thought with his acts would going stop the fight and definitely he wasn't consistently in the latest rounds to finish the Champion in where Cotto took the advantage , i would imagine if that cut would happened to Clottey ...............Would he finished the fight ? hmmmm

A bit harsh Diane, they were booing him & he was sayin 'no don't boo me', if he'd lapped the boos up he'd just look like an arrogant knob.

Clottey deserved the loss much more than Cotto deserved the win.

I kinda feel bad for Clottey because he may never get another shot at a big fight after this one. IMO the fight proved he was a better all around fighter than Cotto, but he doesn't have the heart of a champion.
