For one thing ticket sales and pay per view sales are generally depended on the main stream sports fans and general public, not just boxing/fight fans.

So the average sports fan and general public is asking, "who the hell is Juan Manuel Marquez?" So that's why it doesn't attract the average sports fan. The average boxing fan yes, but not the general public or the sports fan.

I really don't think its just the state of the economy, it also depends on how hot the event is, and let's be honest this fight isn't going to attract the regular joes or sports fans.

I mean just take the NBA finals with the Lakers where everyone is purchasing courtside tickets that are worth tens of thousands of dollars to see Kobe play basketball for the championship because the NBA is an exciting and hot sport with a great superstar in KObe.

Mayweather VS Marquez has a WTF question next to it for the average joes.
