Thumbs down Puerto Rico Robbed! Mayol and Clottey...

    What do you think?

Rodel Mayol won the fight. 58-56 againts Ivan Calderon.

Joshua Clottey won by close fight. Miguel Cotto is the new Chicken Runner. He joins Joan Guzman and Floyd Mayweather Jr. He runs all rounds!!!

Cotto could not see what was he to do stand there and allow Clottey to tee off and take advantage of the situation?

Cotto is a nice guy but there are limits...

The fight could have gone either way

Mayol was more "robbed" than Clottey if there was such thing as robbery in both fights.

I have no problem with both results.

i thought Cotto won by one round, could have been 2, but honestly didn't see any of the Calderon/Mayol fight, but from what i've read so far theres a variety of scores, in favor of both fighters, so i'd say a draw was the right score, kinda sounds like Calderon's age might be catching up to him, and where i thought he'd beat Viloria before, i'm honestly thinking that the younger fighter might overwhelm him

Why have 3 judges when two of them don't score it for the guy you're rooting for Boxing politics.

The Calderon Mayol fight should have been a draw. Neither had time to do jack. The cuts were unfortunate in both fights.

At least Cotto didn't quit because of the cut and finished the fight. He didn't do a lot of running after the cut, but before the cut it was obvious he was trying to stand his ground and not get backed up.

The one thing I don't agree with is that Cotto could not see. He said himself he could see but you can not blame him in the slightest for changing his game plan and not getting involved as much as he may have.

Anyway back to the topic. I thought Mayol was very unlucky not to get the verdict and Clottey although not doing him self any favours in the final couple of rounds did outland Cotto in the fight so you could argue a case for him. However in no way were both results a robbery.

calderon is a sissy, he had i tiny cut not enough for him to be blinded by the blood. i wish they did not stopped it! cottos cut was much worse and they completed 12 rds.

mayol had difficulty getting his range and had a hard time scoring too. so i guess the decision was alright for both mayol and clottey.

If you look at the cuts, Calderon's cut was nothing compatred to Cotto. Props to Cotto for continuing and taking it like a man. As for Calderon..he goes way down in the P4P list imo.

Did Cotto win in my in my opinion? I saw it more of a draw. Cotto boxed more but Clottey was the agrressor all through out. I think Clottey was definitely the stronger fighter. He could have finished Cotto anytime round 8 and above. Hence, for me Clottey lost a golden opportunity. I dont know if he got bad advice from his corner. You are in Puerto Rico. You are fighting a champion and yet you dont go all the way when you had a chance? The announcers kept on wondering why Clottey did not want to throw punches. He was not hurt at any time during the fight bar the 1st round flash KD. Cotto was blind and fighting on instincts. hmmmm...

dude the fight was in Madison Square Garden, New York is a long way from PR, and anyone who says hometown advantage for Cotto, Clottey now hails from Brooklyn, so throw that shit out the window

IMO neither fighter was ever really hurt, Clottey would land nicely with that right hand on the blind eye of Cotto but he never really rocked him, IMO the Margarito loss did nothing to Cotto in terms of confidence and his ability to take a shot, he took some nice shots and never seemed wobbled, same goes for Clottey who took some nice clean hard left hooks to the head and wasn't shaken up

Mayol was lucky it was stopped when it was! He could even touch Calderon for the 1st 3 rounds & Calderon was starting to get into his groove, The Iron Boy ain't losing his championship to a chump on a cut!

clottey did not get robbed, either his corner gave him bad advice or he did not recognize that he was not that far ahead. He did not fight for the last two rounds.
