Yep Mexican fans generally like a warrior, a puncher-boxer-brawler... JMM tho is not viewed as one, he's more of a counterpuncher... Generally a boring style of boxing... I also highly doubt the promoter's pronouncement that the whole of Mexico will be behind JMM... Tho JMM could be the numero uno Mexican boxer right now, some Mexican fans maybe accepted the fact that he very little chance against PBF...

    Good point, reps for you...

many people want to see PBF vs Pac. they don't like to watch fights that are considered tune-ups.

many casual boxing fans don't know JMM.

many casual boxing fans do not like the "boring style" of Mayweather.

you add all these reasons and you have a slow sales.

Very sobering experience for PB Mayweather. Hubris - that is all it was and nothing else.

Cotto - Clottey sold well...how much were the tickets?
PAC - Hatton did extremely well...how much were the tickets?
PB - JMM...how much are the tickets?

How does slow ticket sales prove anything about whether Marquez is a bigger PPV attraction that Mosley? Ticket sales and PPV buys are 2 completely different things.

    Please vote in the poll...

If your reason is not in the poll options, just post that particular reason...
    .
The answer is simple. Boxing fans are fed up with being conned by a teary eyed cringing little wimp. Folk refuse to pay to watch him. He has no fan base & could not even draw a crowd in his hometown of Vegas. It must drive him nuts to see Ricky Hatton draw thousands of fans across the atlantic to watch him fightManny Pac draw the crowds like he does. Fraud Mayfeather cant even draw a homecrowd ROFL

I voted for "expected boring fight between 2 master counterpunchers"

Casual fans want to see an action packed fight, not a chess match. I think they would actually dish out some cash if they think the fight will be exciting and worth the money.

If "casual" fans don't know who Marquez is how do they know he is a counter-puncher?

I'll tell you what though Marquez Vs. Casamayor at the MGM on Sep 19 did not have much empty seats at all, especially considering those two names are
    not very well known.

Not exactly, Gate sales give an indication of fight interest. It's like taking a sample poll. If gate sales are down, then logically the PPV's trend is to follow. I do agree however that it has nothing to do with Mosley. I think he was just trying to quote Mayweather. I could be wrong.

"The Golden Conspiracy": Is Mayweather's ribs located in his ego?

“You know more than I do,” Arum said. “We were a half hour outside Vegas when I got (text mail) word from Todd (DuBoef, Top Rank’s president) about the announcement. Did you ever hear of such a boxing announcement coming on a Sunday? I never did.”

They won't... If they don't know JMM, they would assume he's just some Mexican bum by looking at the Vegas odds of 4 to 1 in favor of PBF... The more reasons they won't buy the fight...

I checked on the possibilty of a boring snoozefest as the reason for the slow ticket sales. Each one of them should only be pitted against warriors, IMO, otherwise it will just be almost a fight, but could very well never be one. The possibility for the bout to turn into "the duck" vs "the moonwalk" affair is very high .

Get PBF or JMM in the ring with an agressor, then the difference will be night and day, it is a lot of levels of excitement UP with that kind of matchup!

It's just Floyd doing what he does best dodging and dancing the best in the game. Just talking out of his ass to make him feel better and to try and convince that he is fighting the best and that he is the best of all time.

Either Floyd is not the cash cow he thought he was or the fight was on short notice for the fans, or JMM does not have the fan base that other fighters have had who have gone against Floyd such as ODLH, Hatton, Gatti. Or the fans are fed up with Floyd or the fans wanted to see Floyd fight someone else like Mosley, Cotto. I would still love to see Margarito vs PBF. That is the fight that should be made. We all know that Floyd was afraid of him and if they made this fight in Los Angeles at the Staple center on Sept or Nov, I bet this fight would really sell.
