For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
People are crazy in reducing the fight to a JuanMa blowout. I've been a huge fan for years but Gamboa is dangerous for anyone just because of his sheer speed and athleticism. Also if Arum can build up both of these guys that would be awesome to see PR vs Cuba in MSG. I would pick Lopez now but it would be dangerous for him and Gamboa certainly wouldn't be intimidated.
What Amat said.
In focusing on all of Gamboa's faults I think its easy to forget about how off the charts talented he is.
I wouldn't want to see this fight yet, why can't they wait until a few years ? anyway Yuriorkis Gamboa is very talented but his defense is pretty bad, and he's been knocked down by mediocre opponents.
If he gets knocked down by Juan Manuel Lopez, its lights out. Juan Manuel Lopez is a good boxer with great power, lovely punch technique. And a fantastic workrate, and he's beaten much higher quality opponents, i see Juan Manuel Lopez winning inside of 3 rounds.
Yuriorkis Gamboa for all his talent is far too easy to catch at times, as i said before he needs to fight more technical. Hence why i don't want to see his fight yet, Yuriorkis Gamboa is far too wild to deal with someone like Juan Manuel Lopez at this point.

True that about Lopez.Hes just hitting a wide known stride himself.I think that Gamboa needs to step back...get some off TV time and fine tune his game.I think they are moving him at a hurried pace and bypassing focus on defense and patients.Frankly I think hes a bit spoiled.I though at first they were going after Cruz for coronation belt.Maybe I'm loco but right now I think Cruz can weather him early and beat Gamboa.
Not sure about Larios on different levels.Giving his medical situation I dont see Larios in the States and getting a fight like that. He's depths above Gamboa in experience....tough as nails battler but as of late he gets hit 'ugly' with effect.Dont want to see him facing anyone with big power....could end in a bad way and a steady diet of milk shakes?
This fight would be awesome, but if it happens soon it may ruin a much better bout between the two down the road.
this would be fantastic
lopez would fuck gamboa up
I would like to see Lopez fight Vazquez and Caballero, in that order, before he moves up to 126. I believe Lopez is going to be a great champion for a long time and I believe he should beat Gamboa. However, Lopez needs more signature fights under his belt (as well as Gamboa) so that momentum can be built for a fight between Lopez and Gamboa. I know that Lopez wants those fights, but it seems those fights are not being made. I expected one of those fights to be made after Lopez defeated Penalosa, but now he's fighting this Lontchi dude, who seems like a decent fighter, but not a well-known one. Basically, a fight against Gamboa is one I would like to see, but I want to see the others first.
It's definitely not a PPV fight. Quality, maybe, but unless you're a real boxing fan, you won't be buying this fight.
I'm with Sheep and JT. Gamboa is a little cocky in the ring and he leaves himself open. Do that with Lopez and it's game over. Yes, Gamboa has been knocked down and come back to win. But will Lopez let him come back? If he drops Gamboa he's not letting up.
I personally don't like Gamboa and hope he gets rocked but I do think he's freakishly fast and has good power too.
Let the two develop more, then match them up. I think in a couple of years this will have much more significance.
Juan ma would beat his ass back to cuba

I think JuanMa's the real deal, and I also think last night's "longer-than-expected" fight against Lontchi can only help his maturity and learning process. Lotchi was one awkward MOFO to fight... he kept lunging with his head down, and bear-hugging Lopez every chance he got. Plus, he was veteran enough to throw some meaningful punches in there once in awhile. I think Lopez will finish cleaning up 122, before moving up to 126 where some of the bigger names are fleeing to.

At 27 and over 300 amateur fights I don't think Gamboa is that green as most people think. This fight will only add color to their respective careers almost like Tua-Ibeabuchi except ofcourse I'm pretty sure Gamboa and Lopez will have a Great lasting career.

Looks like Arum is building up to this fight. How do you think it would play out at this stage? I am leaning toward Juanma, seems to have a tighter defense and a little more control.
id have to go for jaunma. gamboas got the skills and all that, juanma just looks too strong and solid for him, i couldnt believe his punch output against penalosa
