Was a barnstormer, but like Holmcall says Chavez was never the same after the Johnson fight, he didn't have that extra bite any more & understandably so. Prior to that his only major losses came to ATGs Floyd Mayweather Jr & Erik Morales. He also lost to Carlos Gerena, but I've heard from a few people who've seen the fight that he was robbed against the more experienced prospect, which he avenged years later. His fight with Mayweather was my probably my personal FOTY for 2001, & he remains with Castillo the only man to drag PBF into the trenches, & he gave everything he had in that fight to the point where his long-term health would of been in danger had he gone out for that 10th round.

I know this isn't a Chavez thread, but bringing this up just reminds me what a warrior he was, & I think if Johnson hadn't died he would have had too much for Diaz & Katsidis. Anyone who thinks a true warrior can't quit needs only look at Chavez to have that corrected
