I agree with you killersheep pretty much there have been plenty of cracking matchups.
Paqauio Hatton was a megafight.
Mosely vs Margarito was for me at least if not a mega event certainly a fight fans wet dream, the two best welterweights in the world meeting head on.
J M Marquez against Diaz was another great fight, and Froch went over to America and knocked out a superstar, outside of Lennox Lewis and Joe Calzaghe how often does a British fight go to America, take on one of their elite stars and then KNOCK THEM OUT! It was huge, even Joe wasn't able to do that, Ricky never beat a top fighter in America, he always got KO'd, unless you count a faded Castillo as equal to Taylor, which I most definitely do not!
It's been a decent first half, with the best yet to come.
No Bilbo the problem is it wasn't huge.
Froch-Taylor couldn't even get British TV.
In fact, what Brit in a "world" title fight in America, in recent times, has had no TV interest?
Even the guys with no chance are always shown live - Lockett, Lueshing, Clarke, Jennings etc...
The Brit "stars" like Calzaghe, Hatton, Naz, Lewis.. a huge deal was made of their fights Stateside. Most were PPV for funks sake.
If you are looking at the TV aspect, the UK has been pounded into submission, with Setanta going tits up and most other events being strictly PPV. I don't know that it's strictly a boxing popularity aspect, rather people pinching pennies to the detriment of "luxury" tv in general.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
