He looked awful tonight. As usual it annoyed me how much the commentators bigged up his opponent into a great fight.
Let's be honest he was in the same level as a Walid Smichet nothing more.
13-3-1 record, once got KO'd by a 1-5 jobber who is currently 2-13, seriously the kind of fighter whom Kid Thunder would have a chance with, (the 2-13 guy not Concepcion)
I felt Donaire deserved to win the fight, especially as the other guy didn't make weight but he was on the run for the entire second half of the fight and a couple times looked like he was on the way to being stopped.
I admit I'm not a fan at all and never have been, but it irks me so much that he's considered a top 10 p4p guy, when the guy he beat tonight was nothing more than a Matt Vanda type.
I'm sure people will jump on me now and tell me Concepcion was a great fighter but seriously, what great fighter fails to win 4 of their first 15 fights and gets KO'd by a 1-5 fighter who is now 2-13?![]()
Donaire has failed to live up to expectations after the Vic fight, I can understand the occasional 1 or 2 easy fight, but come on it's been 2 years already since he beat Vic, it's time to step up your game.
Just imagine if Pacquiao after his victory over Barrera fought nothing but bums for 2 to 3 years. That's Donaire.
dayum steven got ktfo! is he a wake yet? the 1 - 2 was after the bell for sure but it didnt look like bernabe heard the bell. Steven shouldn't have dropped his gaurd and taunt bernabe, he wouldn't have been put to sleep if he hadn't done that.
That was kinda like how nate campbell dropped his gaurd taunting and got ktfo but this one is right after the bell.
He wasn't taunting anybody, they dropped their hands and touched gloves after every round throughout the fight. Whether Concepcion heard the bell or not - and he hit him well after the round had ended - , Luenavo couldn't continue and the DQ was the only acceptable outcome.
I gave him the win 115-113. But his running was disappointing. When Concepcion hurt him in the 2nd, Donaire jumped on his bike
Luvano heard the bell. Concepcion did too. He was starting to get schooled and knew he wasn't going to win. He took the cowards way out
The Campbell antics were during an on going round. Not after. It's not compareable.
concepcion got schooled until he start tagging luevano.. stop being biased.. call it as it is.. i got no problem with the call.. even jay nady didnt hear the bell coz if he did hed be all over in between them.. luevano was hurt and yet in the interview he said he wasnt until the late hit.. luevano took the cowards way out too when he acted like a movie star.

sorry for the sarcasm bro.. i was trying to make a point with VD.. i know he got smoked.. but saying that concepcion was taking the coward way out is pointless too.... that happend in the heat of the moment.. i was just pressing the issue that VD has something against filipinos in general.. i dunno where the mods are but using words like "flip whores" are just ignorant..

The guy is just messing around, just like in some other thread where he gave it to the Brit fans on this board. It's nothing malicious.
Now the dude Miles on the other hand just went into nasty racial stereotypes in some recent thread. You can tell who's kidding or not if you just pay attention. Some just have an unique sense of humor like VD while some you can tell are really nasty in their comments.
at the last ten seconds, bernabe caught steven and steven backed up and CFH steven did taunt him by sticking his chin out with his hands down to bernabes face. That is why he was put to sleep, Steven was trying to act like the last straight right didnt hurt him by sticking his chin out after the bell. Bernabe was in seek and destroy mode, the ref was late to get inbetween and the crowd was roaring i can't blame Bernabe but i can't argue with the DQ intentionally or not.
I didn't see that, and even if it is true it in no way excuses Concepcion's actions. He absolutely deserves the blame (and a large fine and suspension) if he intentionally and knowingly hit Luevano after the bell because he stuck his chin out. Fighters do that sort of thing all the time, and while I may not always like it, it's relatively commonplace.
i have no problems with abe getting dq'd he hit luevano after the bell rang. but i honestly think abe didnt hear the bell, and luevano was quick to react err i mean ACT so he pretended to get kod bad. the ref was nowhere near the boxers to break the fight too.

yeah... sure... lol
donaire was slick and landed accurate punches. but he did it against an average opponent.
Abe Concepcion continually shows that he fights with a small ticker, no surprise there. The DQ is heaven sent for him as it resulted luckily, to talks of a rematch, as all night, it showed him as the inferior fighter. Father Bob ever the promoter extraordinaire, saw angles right away just as soon as a roomful of resentment grew, a direct result of the fight's odd, and somewhat unclear outcome. Talks of a rematch is briskly taking shape as per Bob Arum, it might even result in one. Odd!
Steven Luevano was justified to make the fight boring, for he can easily be dropped with his glass chin if he had chosen otherwise. Great night for the champ Luevano, recognizing and utilizing what works for him and what delivered him from harm!
Honestly, I see a Bobby Pac in Abe Concepcion more than the next coming of a Manny Pacquiao, as over zealous fans have earlier pegged him. He will never amount to anything in boxing if he does not immerse himself in training like a mad man in the mold of the more famous Pacquiao.
"Train hard, so the fight is easy" says the P4P King.... Abe was not listening. The bell rang... again, Abe was not listening, dropped Steven Luevano like a ....... didn't matter. The champion Steven Luevano retains the crown!
Wins clearly by DQ! The referee, Jim Nady says... The only continuation left as physically, the champ cannot. Makes absolute sense!
I remember the great Marco Antonio Barrera delivering an "Abe" to the P4P King in their second fight, from a future HOF'er, this must be rightful or justified. He did not get automatically-dq'ed. What it did was to put a halt to Manny temporarily for a good length... did not enough to deter the PacMan though to finish the fight just as fans, would and should expect it.
Needless to say that PacMan won by unanimous decision despite braving a slight "buzzy" the rest of the fight. No "Holywood" in the Pacman, baffling, for he trains right there in the neighborhood, surey its magic should've rubbed a bit of it by now! LOL!
Perpetually winded, plodding, easily outmaneuvered, and limited, are some mean adjectives but however quite true, to describe Abe Concepcion against a "Luevano"... (no offense to the champ), but he is not the mega-type titlist, but just your everyday, garden variety kind of a champ.
I seriously doubt, not discounting his relatively young age, that Bernabe can reinvent himself and get all his potentials all-together, to propel him to one day be the world beater that he aspires to be! The surprise has... but a bit of crack left - but nary a hopeful one!
End of the tracks...
