Can you recommend a different way? Preferably a video to display. I have no problem altering the way I wrap my hands for more protection of my knuckles.

I agree with Scrap, you don't want too much bandage going over your palms.
I use the long, stretchy hand-wraps myself, but what I do differently is instead of wrapping around my palms, I fold it back and forth over my knuckles. This is held in place with a piece of bandage tape (i.e. the kind that is found in hospitals). To further secure it, I then wrap in between the fingers without putting excess bandage over my palms. Wrapping in between the fingers is more about securing the pad that rests over my knuckles so that it can not move around.
On a separate note, if you find that the wraps are coming loose around your wrists, wrap it a little lower. I have small wrists so I find that I have to go a couple of inches down the forearm so that it will stay.
Also when your hands are gloved up, you should curl your fingers around the padded bar of the glove instead of pressing them flat against your palm.
What it all comes down to is protecting your hands while allowing you to make a fist. Being able to make a good fist is perhaps the best protection against hand injuries next to throwing your punches properly.
If you hear a voice within you saying that I am not a painter, then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced.
Well I can try the folding/taping over my knuckles. What I found interesting about your post chris was the comment about the gloves. I generally put my hand in and extend my fingers all the way to the end of the glove then curl "long hands" My gloves are Warrior Pro Bag Gloves - Leather from Title Boxing white on the inner, and black on the outer. Putting my hand in the glove my way my fingers tips are under the padding of the gloves tip. If I do it your way my fingers end at the end of the inner white before reaching the black padding at the end. I do feel a noticeable difference in how it feels. "tighter fist" I won't know how it will work till I test it with my right hand at the gym tonight. I think I may have been putting my hand too deep into the glove. What do you think?

Yeah I think that might be where problem is. The bar is there for a reason, and that is curling your fingers around it to make a good solid fist.
What's worst than a bruised knuckles is a broken hand. Being able to make a good fist will help protect the bones in your hands.

Well after wrapping my hands with your recommendations and holding the gloves different there is a very noticeable difference. I used one of my gyms lighter bags so I could test this. It work better than I would have suspected. I felt fairly good about it so I went to use our gyms newest bag "huge hard title bag" I went light and felt no pain. So I figured why not try a normal 1,2,3. No pain plus it sounds better. I decided to test my hook by doing a few hooks back to back. Works great, because even if I throw it wrong it doesn't hurt like before. My hand is still healing and I can throw a strong left with the new way without pain before/after the workout. Thanks for the help.
Chris, so true about the Bar. Its amazing how many people Ive told. They looked shocked when I explain, qiute funny really. Great point![]()
