Hopkins potentially cemented his legacy as an all-time great by fighting on into his 40s. I'll readily admit that he is the exception to the rule though.
Aside from Pavlik....who did Hopkins beat? He beat two welter weights (Trinidad and De La Hoya) and gropped Winky Wright all night long. Tarver was a mediocre fighter at best. Tarvier did not even start boxing until 28!
Well u could do that to Calzaghes career too. He fought an injured Kessler, overrated Lacy and Grandpa age Hopkins and Jones. Also about 35 bums.

Note i dont agree with the last statement i just use it to show how anyones resume can be attacked. IMO Calzaghe is not the best fighter at or around SMW of his era i think that is RJJ, but i gotta give Joe credit aint nobody beat him yet.
