I agree with the both of you. It seems that more and more fans are being manipulted into believing a fight that is not on fair grounds is a meaningful mega-fight. 24-7, though I like it, contributes to that, along with commentators that are driven by emotion and not logic. Ive even found myself falling into the trap sometimes, but a level head almost alays prevails. Last night was a mismatch. A great big man beat a great small man. Floyd looked impressive, but he was supposed to. Anything less would have been surprising.
I am hoping that the boxing fans that buy into fights like this with no reguard to the weight advantage/disadvantage are realizing that it is a huge factor. Manny Steward said it best, there are weight classes for a reason.
Psalm 144: Blessed be the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle
Mosley would get slammed for it. But I'm also slamming Floyd for his fight with Marquez. Marquez's natural fighting weight is at 126 to 130, 135 he's not too bad in his stops against Casamayor and Diaz, but you can tell there were moments he struggled.
Floyd had every advantage in terms of speed of hand and foot, strength, size, being younger, less wear and tear, etc. The fight was a complete mismatch and people are praising him for beating up on an blown up featherweight that is 36 years old.
One thing to consider... Floyd and Mosley are not the same size. Mosley walks to the ring at around 160, while Floyd is usually high 140s or maybe 150.
Doesn't really answer the thread question, but it's a factor that should be considered.
and ignored. They are Welterweights, end of.
Shane would have stopped Marquez but I highly doubt he would EVER want to fight a lightweight who had never even fought at 140. Shane is a fighter, not a cherry picking coward. I would slag him off for fighting Marquez in the first place so no credit from me if he did batter a little bloke.

New member here. I am so disappointed nowadays with boxing. From the last Diaz fight fiasco to last night.
Am I missing good fights or have they been pretty lackluster recently. Actually the last Diaz fight was pretty good except the wrong guy won.
I think we are both on the same channel. If Marquez had a victory on par with Pac's KO of Hatton then you can start to make a case but I knew he was not suited (at his age especially) to try move up beyond his natural fighting weight.
I'm glad he was not hurt and had a good payday.
There's no money in that fight. Golden Boy would have made it otherwise.
3-Time SADDO PREDICTION COMP CHAMPION.
I'm not sure people would be praising Mosley for beating JMM but I'm sure they will if Cotto beats Pac who is just as small as JMM. This is all about how great PBF is so he should not be allowed to have a size advantage. If JMM was the big payday then Mosley would've called and begged JMM for a fight just as he was against Pac and now PBF. Mosley is my favorite fighter and I like the guy's demeanor for the most part but I am not one to buy into that he will beat PBF because I don't like PBF. Thats just being in denial. I look at fights without bias and PBF has the best timing in boxing. Its the best fight at welterweight but Mosley gets outboxed. The lightweight version of Mosley was more suitable to beat PBF. That fight should've happened before he went to welterweight. If PWill can get back down to welterweight comfortably then that would be the guy who can beat PBF.
