Shit pisses me off that if I thought the tories would scrap all of these stupid quotas then I would possibly vote for them... Mate, trust me it's no easier being a young, non-white male trying to get a job. The reality with the job market at present is that those willing to take lower wages (such as Poles) will get the jobs. Most notably, young Brits of all colours are far less willing to do the jobs immigrants are willing to, such as working in a fast-food store or being a public cleaner. Saying there are ethnic quotas is a myth, if it was true I'd be getting a hell of a lot more work than I am.

The whole 'I can't get a job because I'm not a black lesbian midget' excuse I find is just one for people who can't accept responsibility for their own inability to get work. As is when people say 'I can't get a job because all the employers are racist against me'.

I haven't seen anything about him wanting to cut peoples' dole. I have seen where he wants to get the two million on incapacity benefit back to work. A study just published says four out of five of them are malingerers and fit enough to work. He doesn't want to cut taxes, taxes are going up for everybody. Top earners in the UK are paying 60% one way or another and this may increase under the Conservatives. He is a posh Tory boy though, Old Etonian and everything. He'll p[robably just fiddle about in the margins though, do a bit of gesture politics on some issues like benefits but not really be all that different to Labour.

My main beef with the UK is the benefits system. There are too many who take advantage of it and sit around doing nothing but smoking cheap illegally imprted cigarettes. I have no qualm with a job seekers allowance for a period of up to six months, but people need to learn how to look after themselves. They have free health care and a decent education system...that should be enough in my eyes. If you can't get a job in the supermarket after all that has been granted then your life support should be cut off. The sense of entitlement in the UK is shocking and needs to be eradicated.

I'm no Tory, but this is one area where I have little sympathy.

I kind of agree with that. I look at both sides of the Atlantic and think "Why aren't you people doing anything?". Out here they protested in their hundreds of thousands about the imminent dangers of imported US beef. They were doing this for months....even though it was bullshit spread through the media and Korean beef producers who rip off everyone and don't want to compete. But the point is that they get out in numbers and make a stand.

In the UK protests are small scale and easily dispersed. Why aren't Americans camping out on Wall Street in their tens of thousands everyday? They don't have the excuse of needing to go to work. It seems the West has become an apathetic place where people just take whatever their told and say "What can I do? Coronation Streets on later". In the age of the Internet where we can all get connected so easily, I am surprised there isn't more social unrest.

I find myself in that same situation... only, i've noticed that its now an ever more re-occurring scenario.

Maybe it's becuase the Media's attention seems to be with Mr.Cameron, The Conservatives and their impending ascent to power. It just fills me with complete trepidation and melancholy.

Now to feel like that about a man on the street is one thing, but to feel this way about my nation, or the power that governs it, enrages me.
It think that, as a society, we are oppressed and have been made dishevelled without really seeing it.

We just don't know how to make a difference, to make our point and to shake things up when no on is listening.

It seems the West has become an apathetic place where people just take whatever their told and say "What can I do? Coronation Streets on later". In the age of the Internet where we can all get connected so easily, I am surprised there isn't more social unrest.

I guess we prefer to bend over. It's shameful.
