So who is Jones gonna step it up against to sway the opinion? I like him, but he's lost three straight matches to boxers with lesser ability than him. Did he lose his tactical ability?
his greatness relied on reflexes and agility...he's old and the legs and reflexes are the first thing to go...and that's whats wrong with roy now...he never had proper boxing technique and now he's suffering because he can't stand and trade without his legs and reflexes.....bernard had a style that was better equipped for the long run...

beating Tarver the first time took LOADS of heart So did beating Hopkins with a broken right hand(which was broken before the fight happened) beating Telasco with a fractured wrist and NOT pulling out of the third tarver fight despite a broken right hand. These are the kind of things Joe Calzaghe pulls out of fights about
Why bring Calzaghe's name into it??

This is only opinion but I think prime Hopkins against prime Jones Jr results in a slender decision for Hopkins.....
so what were they when they fought the first time? amateur?
They were pro but hopkins didnt become as good as he could be until into his 30's....the Hopkins of the early part of this decade would have given Jones problems....
prime roy jones at 100% beats bernard by UD everytime...even bernard said he knew he lost to roy...that's usually a very convincing victory when the other fighter admits it....
As you've heard this 10 million times now, just because Roy won the match back in '93 doesn't make that outcome the overall view of the way things go in their prime, or how they'll be viewed 20 years from now.

Roy is or was great. I just hope his legacy doesn't become like Holyfields. Fighting so far past his prime that his tactical ability has become nil.
