    Tyson was quite famous.

South London was brought to a standstill when he visited in 2000.

Both Tyson and Ali would sell out arenas in countries that neither fighter that was involved in were natives of the country, and there was always a huge buzz

    Ali/Frazier III - Phillipines
    Ali/Foreman- Zaire
Tyson/Douglas (who wasn't even really considered a real test)- Japan

all sold out, obviously they didn't make as much money cause things weren't as expensive as now, if those fights would have taken place today it would have made millions more than anything Hatton has been in, anyone can get their hometown fans to fly over and break bank to go see them, even Taylor and Pavlik do that, but the real impressive thing is if you can get a country who has nothing to do with you to back you up, which both Tyson and Ali have done

You think Hatton is more famous than Tyson?

Tyson could pack-out anywhere on the planet with the locals. He didn't need a travelling army to make a noise.

To be fair; Modern money has devalued, air travel has now come into the reach of not only the middle class but many of the lower earners can afford to fly once a year.

Back in the day 60's you could buy a double storey house for 3000 pounds in sth London much less in Manchester, nothings is relevant anymore over time, other than the number of fans.
