Both Tyson and Ali would sell out arenas in countries that neither fighter that was involved in were natives of the country, and there was always a huge buzz

    Ali/Frazier III - Phillipines
    Ali/Foreman- Zaire
Tyson/Douglas (who wasn't even really considered a real test)- Japan

all sold out, obviously they didn't make as much money cause things weren't as expensive as now, if those fights would have taken place today it would have made millions more than anything Hatton has been in, anyone can get their hometown fans to fly over and break bank to go see them, even Taylor and Pavlik do that, but the real impressive thing is if you can get a country who has nothing to do with you to back you up, which both Tyson and Ali have done
So your admitting that after ali/tyson, hatton is the most popular sportsman of all time!!

very well said morales, youve gone up in my estimations now
no i'm not saying that you retard, he's far from it, DLH, Pacquiao, and hell even Holyfield are all more popular internationally than Hatton

Every time you think he's come up with the silliest post ever he manages to outdo himself.

Ali, Tyson, Leanard etc had massiv global followings, for being boxers.

Hatton has a massive national and arguably some what regional following of football supporters who mostly support him because he lays the beer and chips shit on a bit too thick.

Not to discredit him too much, I'm sure lots of those fans are legitimate boxing fans but in my opinion the mass following he has is mostly football supporters.

Oh please Hatton was cool because the crowd was a novelty but boxing is fine without him. Also, there were boxers with muuuuuch larger followings in the past they just couldn't travel with their fighter, the times wouldn't allow it. Even so, hundreds traveled by rail to watch Joe Louis' pro debut and people grabbed onto absolutely anything he or Dempsey ever did in their lives.

Hatton did have one hell of a fanbase.

It's a shame most of them knew fuck all about boxing and were mostly chavvy pissheads.
