AdamGB, Haye is never going to be mistaken for a pressure fighter...and when he does press the action he hasn't learned (that we know of) how to pace himself, it might be something he shows improvement in with Ruiz.

Yes Solis took Barrett out quicker than Haye did. So Solis is more powerful?
Well, Solis couldn't stop Julius Long, something that Audley did in 2 rounds. So is Audley more powerful than Solis?
    By your logic he is.
#1 I said nothing of the sort

#2 ElTerribleMorales posted that because he was poking fun of the David Haye fanboys who thought "Haye beat Monte Barrett faster than Wladimir did so Haye must be better"....and I agree people did go overboard with that.
I rewatched both Haye vs Barret and Solis vs Barret today.

Haye and Monte basically fought as equals, taking it in turns to throw shots at each other and both took turns in pressing and then backing off, Haye won because he hits harder, and probably faster too.

Solis just took charge of the fight from the first bell. There was no exchanges or balance attack vs defence between two combatants. He just came out and bullied Barrett, marching into his face and smashing him around the ring. Barrett was never given a chance to get into that fight.

Solis is in the same mould as Kirkland and Angulo imo, just a big tank of a man who relentless comes forward and breaks fighters down.

Haye isn't that kind of guy at all. He's not strong on the inside, he doesn't have that ring generalship and aggression. He stands off and tries to box his opponent with punches, sometimes coming forward and throwing big shots, other times backing off and he gets hit.

I just can't see him making any impression on guys like Wlad, Vitali or Solis. I think they just bully him as much as outbox him.

Even guys like Povetkin and Chambers I find it hard to see how he wins. Povetkin works every minute of every round whereas Haye takes rounds off, he postures and stops throwing for long periods. He'd just be outworked.

A fight with Chambers would be interesting. I think boxing wise Chambers schools him, but Chambers himself can get a bit gunshy at times and his workrate can drop. He's not a hitter either. I think that fight could be a 50/50 matchup although obviously as a hater I'd side with Chambers.

Arreola vs Haye is a great matchup, not sure how that one goes.

David Haye is becoming the most targeted fighter in the heavyweights right now and for good reason. I think Solis is well rounded enough to put a whooping on the Hayemaker especially in the later rounds if it goes that far. But as I recall there was this other Cuban who bragged about beating Riddick Bowe in the amateurs but got destroyed when he fought him in the pros. It could be deja vu all over again.

It would happen again! Haye showed when he was much lighter he could seriously hurt Solis with one punch and I'd be very suprised if a fight between them got past 3 rounds. I think Solis will get beat before he moves onto one of the champs anyway. I'm not impressed at all. He is only so heavy because he is massively out of shape. To be anywhere near in shape he'd need to be 230lbs or less and i don't think he will ever get back down to that.
