As for Cotto, if he stops Pacquiao it'll be an impressive victory, but I think it will (unfairly) be considered somehow less impressive than if Pacquiao stopped him, even though Pacquiao is the favorite. I'm not sure that last sentence makes sense to anyone but me. As for Cotto - Mayweather, much like Pacquiao, I can't foresee Cotto doing anything in this fight to convince me he could beat Mayweather, though I also think that Mayweather - Cotto could potentially be a more competitive fight than Mayweather - Pacquaio.
I agree with everything except for Cotto presenting Mayweather more of a problem than Pacquiao would.

I think Mayweather beats both, but Pacquiaos speed and angles would give him more problems than anything Cotto could show him

If pacquiao wins i'd like to see him snub a mayweather fight because he won't need it for his legacy and I dont think he has much of a chance to defeat mayweather anyways... unless something really drastic happens. If Mayweather doesnt get Pacquiao he wont even be able to claim he was the best of his generation .

    Er, what?

I'm sure the mods will be working overtime and several bans will be handed out.

Whatever is said after the fight has already been said before the fight. Issues over weight for both fighters etc.

For me he's already up there pretty much and beating Cotto and Floyd would put him right up there.

Not just his achievements but the way he fights is brilliant to watch.

How many times can you say Mannys been in a boring fight?

    Not many is it

I know most people think Pac would pose a bigger threat to Mayweather than Cotto would and truthfully I think he might too. But I also think that Pac's style will allow Mayweather to counter him all night, something JMM had success with. I could see Mayweather picking Pac off all night, hurting him and/or stopping him. With Cotto I think it would be a differently style of fight, albeit (I've been using that word a lot lately for some reason) a less exciting one. I think Cotto's timing, size, and style *might* allow him to be more competitive with Mayweather.
I completely agree that Cotto v. Mayweather will be more competitive than Pacquiao v. Mayweather. Pacquiao beating Mayweather would be one of the bigger upsets in boxing. And the cynic in me doesn't think a Mayweather v. Pacquiao fight will be fun to watch.

I absolutely agree.. matter of fact, that is perhaps the only reason why I would absolutely want Cotto to win... to avoid that trolls submerging. THough when I think about it, the trolls will come anyway and say that PAcman should have won or that Cotto was too big and that he's still the best. I think we're dild either way, Missy though it'll be worst if Pac wins.

pac has already defied the odds so many times

But this is a way tougher fight than ODLH or hatton. If he wins this regardless of what happens from then on in the guy is an all time great!

If Pac beats Cotto and Floyd

Particularly if he beats them well (KD or Strong UD)

Strong argument for one of the best fighters to ever lace em up

Hard for anyone to disagree if you throw Mosley in there

Please tell me you meant Robinson. Sugar Ray Leonard is in no way the greatest ever.

That makes perfect sense mate and I agree.

Weird how this is the case but Pac is the clear favourite, is must be down to the step up in weight a Pac's part

Would that put your betting money on Cotto over Mayweather?

But as CFH said, Mayweather would demolish Pac.. There just isn't any way that Pac would win.. He's fast, but he will still struggle to land anything effective on Mayweather... And even when landing effectively, Pac still isn't going to have the power to even shake Mayweather...

Cotto you could imagine would at least be prepared to take a bit of a beating to maybe rough Floyd up, but even Cotto is to "boxer" oriented which Floyd would be able to pick off all night unless Cotto was prepared to make it at least a little ugly.. Having a game plan to charge Mayweather and rough him up to the body, cut off the ring, I agree would lead to a much better fight than Pac/Mayweather..

Still I would certainly watch either fight Mayweather and give it the old college try..

Mayweather doesnt demolish anyone my friend! He does just what it takes to win (in very boring fasion). I honestly cant remember an exciting Mayweather fight. No chance that Mayweather demolishes Pac. Pacquiao's not just a blood and guts all or nothing fighter. He doesnt get credit for his ring generalship, not to mention he has the smartest trainer out there. Im not sure what your deffinition of demolish is but mine is a KO. If you think for one second Floyd could KO manny than you've obviously lost your mind! Pacquiao would present a combination of speed, movement, angles, and aggression that would frustrate Floyd!
