Cotto won that belt against Michael Jennings @ 146

The amount of times iv seen this stupid question!!!

Anyone fighting between 140lbs and 147lbs is a fuucking welterweight!!

    Thats how!!

Cotto could defend his title at 141lbs if he wanted

    To be fair,

147 is the limit for a welterweight fight which means anything between 141 and 147 is a legit welterweight fight.

People can't discredit Pacquiao for making Cotto come down two pounds being that Pacquiao is a very small welterweight and Cotto is a legit welter.

Cotto looked in great shape at 145 so no excuses.

To my knowledge never in the history of boxing has a title not been on the line because a fighter came 2 lbs under the maximum limit.

Under the rules both could have weighed in at 141 lbs and it would have still been a legitimate welterweight fight.

The 147 limit is a MAXIMUM limit not a forced weight that both fighters must weigh.

First of all, you are a hater so this thread basically is an anti-pac thread.

Second, there's no provision that you can't win a title when you fight below 147. Besides, 145 was the weight they have agreed upon during weigh-in; definitely not the weight when they fought. Both of them were over 147 when they fought so how could this be not a 147 fight? You will see the logic if you'll remove your hate on Pac.

First point Bollox to the highlighted section.

Here's a link re the weight classes, no one is arguing really that Pac is WW champion, what the point is, is that he is dictating what weight his opponent comes in at , that's not how it works. The sanctioning bodies recognise the classes and should stop supporting catch weights.

Well obviously anything that is or can be negative against Pac and the pac/nut hugers will call you a hater.

I don't understand how "so-called" boxing cant understand weight limits.
There limits!!! They are maximum weights. A fighter weighting 95lbs can theoretically fight another fighter weighing 95lbs for EVERY single weight devision title.

YOu only have to be less then the maiximum weight per division to fight for the title.

Yeah, I may be a fan of Manny but I will say negative things about him when I see his faults. It's clear that you're trying to undermine the belt Manny is currently holding. Why can't you for one moment try to stop on the hating and recognize that there is one great fighter among us.

Sorry but I can't consider yet your boy Mayweather as great because he hasn't really fought a great fight in the current weight he's in. IMO.

I know, Mayweather will be the most difficult fight Pac will have because of styles but that makes him a great fighter. He fights despite the risk. He fights despite the slim chance of success. That's why many of us here have become his fans. You may call me nuthugger because I have been his fan since day one here but Pac has proven already that I'm not wrong for hugging him.lol

If it would be possible though, stop undermining Pac's achievements. It makes you look like a hater of Pac and a hugger of PBF. I don't know which is worse.

You refer to the thread being an anti pac thread then you refer me to one person in the thread , i don't hate Pac, so should i leave the thread as i may have changes it from anti pac. And your little symbol is very big of you thanks for that very adult of you.

My Bollox comment was in response to you saying a broad comment about the thread. my addition of a link was to help people not sute where the weight limits lie.

Really? During the weigh in they said "Hey how about 145 Cotto?"

Oscar lost to Hopkins but their contract says Hopkins should make the 157lbs limit

Oscar - 155, Hopkins - 156 during the weigh in.

and you said how is it possible? well SRL won a 175lbs belt from a 175lbs title holder. while forcing that title holder to make the Super Middleweight limit of 168lbs!

That Leonard multi-weight class fight was THE biggest BS set up in the history of boxing. How do you fight in two weight classes for the same fight? It's ridiculous.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
