Lobster = overrated, we've been over this. Same family as the cockroach.

I hate the idea of everything eaten or boiled alive, including lobsters or even oysters

They're like big shrimps. But they're big, tasty shrimps. And like other seafood they've got bugger all fat or cholesterol so they're meat you can eat and not feel unhealthy about doing so.

Fresh lobster may be the most perfect food imaginable, but I admit it is hypocritical to get freaked out by something like this and then throw a lobster in the pot. Its a perception thing, you throw the lobsters in, put the top on the pot, out of sight out of mind, and move on. Doesn't seem as bad when of course it pretty much is.

Eaten alive / instant death, then eaten.

That is pretty revolting. They like to eat still living squid out here. It writhes about on the plate and the tentacles get stuck on the tongue as you try to swallow. I haven't tried it. And then there are the dog farms and the howling of suffering caged dogs about to be hacked to death and then cooked up. The dog farms are illegal, but laws are seldom enforced.

I could watch that guy dive off the sea wall and split his head open like an orange peel all day long but that fish made me feel sick.

I think there's a bit of a difference with a lobster. If prepared properly the lobster goes to sleep before he dies. You put him in cool water and then turn on the eye. Doing it that way also ensures that the meat is tender.

Unlike how I did it because I didn't know any better. I was making a 'romantic' dinner for my wife and myself, threw the first lobster in hot water and cooked him up with his homey within watching distance. The second one, knowing what was coming... struggled. He wound up flipping himself over in the boiling pot and writhing in agony until dead.

That was the last time I bought live lobster. I've ordered it at Red Lobster, but they don't cook it in front of me.
