That KT he fought was still good, could have beaten a lot of people at 140.
Hatton just was a bad matchup for him. Not really a good infighter and too slow on his feet to keep distance with footwork, he just had to catch Ricky coming in with a right and he wasn't able to land a fight changing punch. Once Hatton got inside he could rough him up and KT didn't have the distance to throw that right hand.
Not a Hatton fan, just the way I've always seen that fight.
I said back then, while I was giving Hatton credit for that fight, that I wouldn't have minded seeing a Corrales fight and that Diego matched up better with him. He didn't have to create distance, he could go to war on him on the inside with short hooks and uppercuts and I think its possible he could have gotten to Ricky and stopped him.

Why does he do it to himself? Marquez will knock him out, but not straight away - it will be bloody, imo. Has he not already increased his chances of brain damage enough? Let it go, ffs.
Marquez always does his best when someone pressures him and Hatton will. Marquez will take a few shots but will be the slicker, more accurate puncher to what I think will be around a 9th round KO, similar to the Diaz fight. What im wondering is how can Hatton even consider fighting very soon? He looks like a 180 pound chub bucket! If this fight happens, Marquez will knock him out and Hatton will Completely fade from the boxing game!
There is recent news that PBF is considering to fight Hatton again but this time venue is in UK. So Marquez could be dumped after all.
unlike most of you, i think hatton will overwhelm marquez. jmm doesn't belong anywhere north of 135lbs. even at lightweight he was already struggling and had slowed down considerably. his punches wouldn't have the same sting at 140 and if hatton doesn't struggle so much to make weight, he'll have the strength and speed to bulldozed his way inside and maul marquez the way he did paulie.
I believe Hatton struggles to make 140 and that will equal out Marquez beign at a weight his not suppose to be at.
Then Marquez takes him to school juzz lik he did to Pacquiao in the first fight an Kos Hatton in 9.

Looks like it's on!
I was thinking then, if Hatton really is a freak of nature that can balloon and then shrink without side effects (personally I don't think it's possible, but he's done it most of his career) then he does have a good chance.
Yes he got embarressed in his two losses. But to be fair to him, both were against the best 2 fighters in the division, the same best 2 fighters that we are now all saying are some of the best fighters ever made. It's nothing to be ashamed of really. Clearly any other boxer who fought either of those two would have lost also.
So maybe, I'm underestimating Hatton. I've given him a bit of stick recently for his beatings and also the thought of a comeback. But now I've started thinking about it, this fight could be a quality tear up (although maybe I'm thinking about both fighters in their prime)
Anyway, I'm excited by the prospect of this fight and hope it happens.
Hattons team are saying the fight is not on, and nothing will be decided till the end of january.
Not that I think Ricky has a chance against Marquez but dont you think it's a bit silly for Hatton after a year out to jump back in against a guy like Marquez?? Just stupid an accurate powerful fighter who adapts to most situations?
Hatton needs a tune up where if he has any sort of chance agaisnt Marquez to get his confidence, ring rust and some sort of timing back.
I cant see Hatton coming back after such a lay off against a skilled boxer like this. Id throw him someone like Steve Forbes just to see what is actully left, as I see Hatton being embarrased by Marquez.
The problem was the nature of the losses and in particular the Pac loss, he was smashed even after all the talk about new skills blah blah. You are right mate , the best in the divisions beat him, but Hatton was the one banging on about how he belonged in there and all the BS about P4P.
Regardless of when the fight is scheduled for , Hatton looks like shit as always and you can only go to the well so often, for Ricky I reckon it's dry. To let yourself go the way he does borders on orogance.
IMO he gets the fight , big pay day, KTFO and he's gone.
If this fight between Ricky and Juan pushes through, it has the potential of negating a possible Pac JMM 3 in the future, simply because Hatton will own Marquez at the weight of 140 or above.
I can even envision that against a younger batch, JMM will even find himself struggling for wins at 135! The age and his inability to carry the skill-set over his natural fighting weight of 126-130, will be a tremendous handicap, and will serve a detriment to his success.
I can sense, HOF trainer Nacho Beristein, already know this.
LOL! If Pac vs JMM 3 ever happens in the future, it can only be because JMM wins this fight against the Hitman!
So I now turn ever so quickly at changing my pick...
Go, Juan Manuel Marquez! Go, and win this thing, LOL.
What weight do people think Hatton is now? 13 stone? Just wondering.
I agree with all the Hatton shouldn't do it comments, I just like the guy and I've a feeling that Marquez wouldn't be quick enough to really hurt him. I think they are both past their sell by date and the loser will almost certainly retire.
I do worry for Hatton's chin, it clearly can't take a good punch anymore.
