Which brings me back to my point. How did your fish and chips meal die? Did it get dragged in a huge net into a boat and slowly suffocate? Most likely. Is this less traumatic on the fish then going straight into the oil? Either way it is getting to the oil.

I admire a person who actually goes out and gets/hunts and eats their own food, over a person who shops for theirs. Atleast they are assuming some responsibility for the act.

Memphis, while we can argue the scientific basis of consciousness in lower intelligence species, fish, spiders, etc., ( I argue that the fish doesn't know his sides are cut out, and is only reacting to it happening) this here, the peoples reactions, everyone in this thread who feels it is cruel, I again suggest it is shame driving it. And squeamishness. Plus a bit of the unknown, largely cultural differences.
