One is the humane thing to do the other is weird to me. Simple as.
Which brings me back to my point. How did your fish and chips meal die? Did it get dragged in a huge net into a boat and slowly suffocate? Most likely. Is this less traumatic on the fish then going straight into the oil? Either way it is getting to the oil.
I admire a person who actually goes out and gets/hunts and eats their own food, over a person who shops for theirs. Atleast they are assuming some responsibility for the act.
Memphis, while we can argue the scientific basis of consciousness in lower intelligence species, fish, spiders, etc., ( I argue that the fish doesn't know his sides are cut out, and is only reacting to it happening) this here, the peoples reactions, everyone in this thread who feels it is cruel, I again suggest it is shame driving it. And squeamishness. Plus a bit of the unknown, largely cultural differences.
I have absolutely no problem with people killing and eating their own food. I understand about mass caught fish.
My point is about the actions of the human. I don't understand why you would take delight in watching something die in a horrible way. Whether it's eating it alive or chucking it still living back into a lake.
I'm not saying you're a bad person. You grew up fishing. We come from completely different environments. What you find funny I find weird. That's all
