Theres loads of exercises for strengthing the Groin. one thats better than most is on the list of stretchs Ive put up have a look.

I hurt my groin too.It waz on thursday an it still bothers me, itz more towardz the right side though...
I avoid stretching now, I spend more time warming up. I tend to over stretch which makes it worse.

I used to warm up joints and tendons, fast small circles and shake outs too, then light mobile faster but easy stretches like leg to leg in squat mode that type ,then into serious stretches in very slow stages, then do all the hard yards sweat ad suffer type of work, then shake out and revolve all joints again to warm down, then light but long still stretches once more.
