I'll never question Hattons desire and determination but I think the timeline changes would have seen the same result inevitably, just cannot change the styles, techniques and over all execution gaps between Floyd and Hatton.

A referee that forgot the rules that night - hang on a minute are we talking about the night in Manchester or the night in Vegas, which ref Vann or Cortez ? Cortez without a doubt was the worst out of the two of them on the respective nights. I didnt realise the forearm smash and ducking below your opponents waistline was valid in Vegas, or did they just change the rules for that one fight ?

That is a very good question.Ricky was a beast then and punch's just didnt seem to faze him.Joe cortez on that night didnt let ricky get on the inside at all in that fight and to me it all played into pbf hands.
I think, ricky back then in manchester would have give pbf a run for his money.I'm not sure he would have beaten him,Because i feel Pbf,is the best about.
Ricky would've banged into a different ring post on his way down.
great another hatton bashing thread, just what this site needs..
I dont even bother reading through these anymore because you can be assured 7-8threads down you`ll have the same old twats saying the same old shit
Just love the fact this apparent complete "one dimensional, average fighter" gets sooooo much attention on this site![]()
one dangerous horrible bloke
LOL it's great innit, between Hatton and Pacman ya would think these guys are hated more than Osama Bin Laden
Just to put this to bed Ricky would of knocked the shit out of Mayweather that night in manchester regardless of the ref, erm .... well bar Cortez of course![]()

hatton would not of beaten mayweather that night and not a peak tszyu either hatton was very good fighter but has been overated he is not the best light-welter to come from britain
Hatton could have won, he was doing well for 5-6 rounds at welter against Floyd. At home, at his very best, with the British ref, and at 140lb, he stands a very good chance of a decision with UK judges.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
have to disagree there hatton could never cope with mayweathers speed .i think mayweather is one of those fighters that fights just hard enough to win and boxed well within himself when he fought hatton and just moved up the gears when he felt a stoppage was possible
Mayweather vs Hatton and that referee in UK?
I'd give Hatton the edge.
i cant believe how overated hatton is![]()
Clutching at straws more than Tszyu was his groin with that one! I refer to Whitaker V Rivera 1996, when Rivera lands his first low blow in round 6 referee Frank Santore has no hesitation in deducting a point, if Tszyu V Hatton was in Las Vegas then Hatton gets DQ'd. Mayweather completely outclassed Hatton in Vegas and not even that British referee could have saved him. I had it a shut out up until the KO.

As time goes by, peoples opinion on what actually happened changes. Tszyu was just a sguilty of using illegal tactics. He was holding a lot, he was hitting below the belt. It was that sort of fight. Tsyzu wasn't shot either. He might not have been prime, but he destroyed Sharmba Mitchell 7 months earlier.
As for Mayweather v Hatton, in a small ring, with a hometown referee...i don't know. It would have been interesting. For Ricky to win, he'd have to have gotten away with an awful lot. The difference in class between Floyd and Ricky is huge, but Ricky still managed to take rounds off Floyd in a fight where he was effectively fighting the referee aswell.
I'm not suggessting Hatton would win - who know, maybe he'd rush in more and get caught earlier than he did in Vegas.
I do feel the fight would be much more uncomfortable for Floyd. I'd imagine he'd win, just not as comfortably as he did in Vegas.
