I Hate To Say This But My Boy Joan Guzman Did Get Battered.

Im a big fan of Joan Guzman but he is a very frustrating fighter, to be a fan of. But no doubt he is incredibly skilled, i personally didn't see the fight but from all articles im reading, it seems Ali Funeka was robbed. But everyone said that about the Nate Campbell fight, and i thought that was a draw personally. So can anyone fill me in ? cheers.

I had it 117-112 Funeka, basically last six round Funeka dominated him while Guzman becmae very tired.

Onle look at Joan's face will tell the true story. He looked like a cheese and susage pizza after that beat down. I had it 117-111. I love Canadainia boxing, but they need to exclude their own Referees officials from participating.

It was a fairly disgusting result and an embarrassment. Gotta feel for Funeka to put that kind of performance on and get robbed. And that is what it was. He not only dominated, but kept his strength and accumulated round after round as the wear and tear on Guzman became ever more obvious. No way should it have been any where close to a draw. Disgusting. Disappointing. And a sad testimony to the state of officiating in boxing.

Cheers guys i think Joan Guzman is a wasted talent, and because he's style is mostly reflexes and speed. He could very well be past his prime already, which is a shame because i am a fan of his.

As for Ali Funeka i think he's a solid fighter, but IMO he just doesn't seem to be quite up there with the top fighters. He's like the Joshua Clottey of the Lightweights, he could trouble anyone but i just think over the years your going to be seeing alot of "Ali Funeka just misses out".

Pretty much Joan got a big gift, I think after round 3 he may have taken 1 round for the rest of the fight. I also think Guzman's injuries (cuts and bloody nose) hindered his performance.

Anyone else think Funeka in the post fight interview was speaking a foreign language at first?? I know I did, until he started saying things loudly and angry I heard a bunch of mumbling and then "I TRAIN VERY HARD FOR THIS MY MAN!"....poor fella 2 trips to the US and 2 bad decisions, I hope he doesn't make the mistake of trying to fight Juan Diaz in Houston next.

Funeka needs to go for the KO though, he had Guzman on the ropes a couple times.

I honestly thought he was on the verge of getting seriously hurt.Had zero answers once Funeka got rolling over the second half and frankly is lucky Funeka does not have a finshing mean streak...was there to be taken out.

I thought it was an unlucky draw for Funeka. But judging on a round-by-round basis Guzman has claims to round -

1, 2, 4, 7 and 12 with 3 and 11 even.

So that means 115-115 is a gettable score.

Did Funeka LOOK the winner? Yes. Did he actually convincingly dominate these rounds? No.

Unlucky.. but that's boxing.
