Why do Khan threads always have to lead to accusations of racism? I find that really irritating.
I have a known history for disliking Khan and most of that emerged before and after the Barrera fight. We all know that I love Barrera and what happened in that fight sent me over the edge. I dislike injustice and Barrera copped a very raw deal. I don't think Khan came over particularly well in the build up to the fight nor carried himself very well afterwards. I loathed him for a good few months. One of the good things about not living in the UK though is that you don't need to meet the general public and you don't need to read the phoney sports media. I'm generally able to avoid any mention of Khan and so my loathing has been aloud to dissipate somewhat and I am now rather ambivalent about him. This Salita guy he is fighting is not on my radar and it's a fight that I can pretty much ignore. It won't matter to me who wins.
So, in response to the main question of the thread, I cannot say yes or no. It's more a case of me just not caring either way. I don't think he will ever become an elite fighter based on what I have seen though.

Nobody has accused anybody of being racists. All that's happened is me and HTH both had experience of wathcing Khan/Naz fights in public venues where racism has been very apparent, so it was brought up and discussed. Nothing remotely wrong with that and nothing to get irritated about.
Missy commented that racism was in force at Khan fights - from both sides.
I understand that topics like this are difficult to discuss because some people don't know how to deal with them (mikay for example - idiot), but it's a valid topic nontheless for the majority of the civilised saddonians.

I really hope Khan gets badly knocked out this weekend and we can all end the year on a high note in good spirits.

Miles has a point though.
You have to seperate the genuine racists attacking Khan from genuine boxing fans that just don't like him.
If you go into a pub where the whole place is shouting racist abuse at Khan they're probably not the best people to socialise with![]()

If you go in to a pub or arena to watch a fight you're not so much as socialising as sharing a venue.
The problem we have now is that no matter what reasons you give for not liking the chinny sod people take on this knowing attitude as if to say, 'I know that's what you say but the real reason is.....' nod nod wink wink
BS.

My point entirely
You`d have to be either a lying toerag or someone who doesnt have a social status if at some point you havent heard some idiot profess to hating khan because of his race/religion
I was anti khan this time last year because the guy pre-roach didnt have what it took to mess it up with the big boys and i felt like his team were selling us short time and time again.
But khan has grown up big time in 2009, without doubt the most improved fighter of the year as he seems to mature with every performance. Didnt think he could handle barreras ring skills...he did, didnt think he`d be able to take kotelniks power..he did
one dangerous horrible bloke

Right, I was called a racist a good while back when I was in full on anti-Khan mode and that irritated me. I have read a lot of Khan threads and see people raising the point that race is the reason why Khan is so disliked, but personally I just see a whole bunch of other reasons why I'm not so keen on him. It's too easy to bring up the race card, though I am sure there are a fair few racists out there too.
My original statement on this thread was more of a thinking aloud moment than anything else anyway. Racists are all gay, and those that needlessly accuse others of racism are supergay. Khan fans are just downright peculiar....![]()
Mikay just made me cry with laughter, sending me bad rep saying Nazi scum LOL.
