What young rich sportsperson is universally loved? Khan's support FAR outweighs the hate. He wouldn't sell 8,000 tickets otherwise.

    Gold medal winners
    Audley = hated.
DeGale = booed on debut for fucks sake.

If they turned pro under the radar no-one would see them until they get near championship level. The spotlight from day one is the only real reason Khan has haters. Like all famous fighters have.
    Exactly.

That's not support. He might be a ticket seller but that's different from having 'supporters'. The chorus of boos when he makes his way to the ring suggests there's an awful lot of fans paying to see him get ko'ed. Nobody is asking for him to be universally loved. It would just be nice to see an arena packed with fans who want him to do well.

That happened at the Barrera fight. Barrera being a legend naturally brought out a ton of Brit boxing fans to see HIM.

Apart from that, the small number of boos for Khan are completely drowned out by the cheering for him. Haters don't even buy his PPV's let alone go to see him live.

Khan is a strange fighter for me. I've known who he was before I knew who Pac was because I began following amatuer boxing, and I was always very impressed with his speed and mobility. Still am. But for some reason when he hits KD'd...it makes me laugh. Not even sure why. I think it is in the way he hits the canvas. Like, so fast it defies the laws of gravity.

So ya I'm rooting for him to become elite as he is fun to watch. But also, if he gets KTFO in the process I'll prob. catch myself giggling.

Khan support pisses all over the boo boys.
    I disagree.

    Taken from Sky Sports website:
Bizarrely Khan seemed to be booed by some as he made his way into the ring. Barrera meanwhile was cheered to the rafters as Manchester became Mexico for one night only. But it didn't last. As much as the Manchester fight fans love a legend, they also love a fighter who is good and game. And the boy from Bolton was both.

He was also booed at the Prescott fight and he also loudly booed at the Pacquiao - Hatton weigh-in, by british fans.

By the way, i'm not saying he is without support, he clearly isn't. But i wouldn't go as far as saying his support pisses all over the boo-boys.

I don't get it really. Carl froch, Joe Calzaghe and David Haye are far more arrogant, yet neither of them get booed and jeered on their way to the ring.

    I wonder why?
They weren't given the hype job that Khan was from day 1.

Check the threads plenty of people hate those three, stop with the wonder why comments because no doubt people will be looking to blame it on racism.
That's because they didn't win a medal at the Olympics at the age of 17.

The 'wonder why' comment wasn't referencing racism. But since you've brought it up, i have to say i find it odd that people, just because they're not racists themselves, can completely dismiss racism as being a factor for his apparent dislike.

I can in pretty good confidence say that from my experience it is a factor. I've watched a fair few Khan fights in Public Venues, where the racism has been quite disgusting. To the point where it's pointless going out into town to watch a Khan fight.

Listen to the last link i posted. That's the Prescott fight from the crowds perspective. Where are the boos?

Bizarrely Khan seemed to be booed by some. Exactly, SOME.

For your argument to mean anything it would need to be about 50/50. It's more like 95-5 in favour of Khan.

And as for the Hatton weigh-in, Mosley and Marquez were booed too (Jaz was there), because they were pissed-up Brit yobbo football fans not proper boxing fans.

Yeah. we're all jealous because we didn't win a medal.
The reference to 'wonder why' is because the same topic comes up everytime he fights.

I've also been to Khan fights and the racism has come from both sides.

Big time yes. I just want to see Missy and Miles grow more and more obsessed as the years go by. I don't really care if he does well in and of it itself.

Right, and obviously your boos were not because you were supporting Barrera but because you don't like "paki's"

I've yet to go to a Boxing venue where the majority aren't pissed up football fans so i'm not sure what that's got to do with anything. Plus if we're using your brit yobbo footballing fans terminology, it's understandable that Marquez and Mosley got booed because they aren't English. Khan is.

I've never said that he has any irrational hate on this board, but i'd imagine this board or the opinion of similar boxing forums probably represent around 10% if that, of an attending crowd.

I wouldn't rather take some report than use my own ears. I've heard for myself mate. I know i'm not the only one who's heard it. It's also something that's been mentioned a fair few times in Boxing News (fight reports). Hell, reading Youtube comments will give you a decent idea.

    *awaits Fenster's handpicked youtube comments*

Sorry mate, it's going to take more than a couple of handheld youtube videos to convince me that the support for Khan far outweighs the distain for him.
