Would ya not class MAB as a world calss puncher ? The last thing a boxer losses is his punch.

This is, in my eyes, a good match up for Amir, both have similar skill-sets, i would suggest Khan hits harder than Paulie though, and it would be interesting to see if he can get Paulie out of there quicker than either Cotto or Hatton. I would go with Khan pts or late stoppage IF this fight were to come off. IMO his sparring with Manny can do nothing but good things for him.

not at lightweight no, and also even if power is the last to go, he didnt have the mobility or speed to land them shots, this really is clutching at straws !

along with the cut effecting his vision barrera couldnt land enough to test khan.... he fought one fighter with a bit of pop and we know how that turned out

    Who's clutching at straws

I asked a simple question - Is MAB a world class puncher, no-one specified or asked if he can punch at different weights. Before the fight no-one including myself gave Khan much of a chance against a legend that is MAB. Especially as Khan has such a glass jaw !!!! Soo in effect MAB only had to land one clean shot on Khans chin and by all accounts he would be KO'd. My point being MAB is no mug with a world class punch. Khan survived it. FACT

he 'was' a world class puncher.... understand ? not no more...

the one shot he landed even half flush wobbled khan slightly, and then the cut happened and that destroyed the smallest of chances barrera had at the time

yep and with one eye and a glancing shot gave him jelly legs so of course they're going to avoid anyone who can wobble him.

I tend to agree somewhat with Violent D on this one. Relinquishing your belt because you are afraid to face punchers isn't what champions do. On the other hand, at 22, Khan is a work in progress, but why then fight weak mandatories for belt he doesn't intend to keep? And why is he ranked number two at 140 by many people when he won't fight Maidana?

Those two are out of the question because neither will be fighting at 140 again. I think he'd fight a disciplined fight against Maidana for a points victory & Ortiz has already been stopped by Khan in the amateurs. I do think if Ortiz can work his way back up & both had world titles, a Khan/Ortiz matchup in about a year to 18 months would be a super-fight
Why then is he contemplating relinquishing the belt in order to avoid facing Maidana?

aside from maidana, who are the punchers at 140 many fans loves khan to fight? presscott again?
Urango is a pretty big puncher. Facing Campbell at 140 would be a good test, not a monstrous puncher but a crafty veteran who can punch.

But, really, Kotelnik, Salita, and then Paulie. Can it be any more obvious that Khan's people are afraid of anyone with half a punch?

At the end of the day, there is nothing wrong with Khan refining his craft before facing punchers, but he can't be counted in the top five of the division if he won't fight a handful of the top ten because he has a glass jaw.
