How is Flips offensive?
Brit is a shortened version of Briton, I don't see how that is offensive.
Does it have some other meaning or do the Filipino people have a sensitivity to having their name shortened?
Or am I missing the point all together?![]()

just so happen that flip also means crazy and people here prefers to be called pinoys. no biggie really but when you use the word flips in a sentence together with the words shit and drugs then its offensive.
sorry off topic
I'd actually like to know the answer to that as well?
I always thought the term 'Philip' sounded acceptable enough. I guess not
I mean with Pakistanis, they got bad abuse with the term P*** so unless the association with the term Philip is a sour one then i don't get it
Flip does sound a lil bit derogatory though. Especially with the possible connotations![]()

the term "Flip" was coined by young Filipinos who were born and raised abroad, mostly in the U.S. ( I guess they didn't know any better). But in the Philippines, the term "Flip" is considered derogatory, not because it is racist, but because in the Filipino colloquial vocabulary, the word "Flip" refers to a deranged or Psychotic person(i.e. he flipped out or he's flipped his wig). So in the Philippines, calling a Filipino "Flip" would be like calling someone a "Nutjob" or a "Psycho". If you want to refer to Filipinos in an abbreviated form, then "Pinoy" is the accepted term.
So, what you are saying is, Pacquiao is on drugs, and we should overlook this because he is now a pinoy? But don't flip out if he happens to be clean and wipes the floor with Mayweather.
"Floyd needs to inject Xylocaine into his balls to gain the courage to fight Pacquiao."
