That wasn't what you said at first. You said Pac would have been Floyd's first legit WW challenge. Then you moved on to legit welters that Pac has fought. You're absolutely right, though. If Pac does fight Clottey he will have fought more legit WWs than Floyd. But if Floyd and Pac get it on Pac still isn't a legit WW. At least in my book.
I seriously doubt this fight will happen, I mean come on they are willing to take on Clottey who in his last fight didn't he come in close to 170# after rehydrating, but they won't fight Yuri Foreman for an 8th title? The only fight that should be made is with Floyd.
I call bullshit here
McGirt recalling the minute break between the 9th round of the Ward fight "He said, 'Help me stand up and I'll finish the fight.'"
I really hope Joshua asks Pac for the same random blood tests but I am not so sure if any guy out there who has never made a big fat check in any fight would be tempted to loose that opportunity. Pac once again will look spectacular and we'll have to listen to Freddy Roach, Bob Arum, Pac Team, and Pac, talk about how great they are and everybody wants to avoid fighting him blah blah blah.
Honestly I think Clottey doesn't care. It would be wise to do but he probably won't. However I hope he does. If each fighter Pacquiao tries to fight makes him do random drug tests it will freeze him out of any big money fight until he agrees to one. I say all fighters should beg this of Pacquiao until he does it and if he doesn't then he won't fight.
Oh man! I really hope EVERYBODY out there demands Pac for random blood tests but if Joshua is on his way out and this can be his biggest paycheck before he retires then I am not sure if he will demand Pac for any blood tests while Team Pac will fine him a ridiculous amount of money if he comes into the fight more black, wearing certain colors on his shorts that bother Manny, and so on. Risking a bad loss against a juiced up druggie, seems something a sellout would do. Please Joshua, ask for random blood tests. Even if Pac came in clean vs Clottey, I can't see Joshua winning though but at least it would be fair.
Clottey won't give a shit, he's going to get a massive payday. You can guarantee he won't say a thing about steroids. Will the public still be enthused over watching a guy under suspicion for being a fraud fighting somebody who lost to the last guy Manny beat? I hope this promotion falls flat on its face and the public turn against Pacneedle, that's the only way we'll ever get him in the ring with Mayweather. He'll probably just fight a couple of people like Clottey and retire.
I really think Pacquiao will lose some of his cred with the stunts in the build up here, because to reject blood testing for drugs is to open himself up for all kinds of allegations of things to hide. Blood testing isn't going to take much of his time nor his blood, so what has he got to lose.
Pacquiao has beaten a lot of the other big fighters, but when it comes to the massive one he goes and squanders it with this debacle, and gets a fight against a guy who's nowhere near his level.
I haven't really been following the whole Manny Pacquiao, steroid circus so i'd rather avoid that. As for this actual fight i don't believe this fight will happen, Joshua Clottey is far too big. I mean in one fight didn't he almost weigh close to 170 ?
He's also far too much of a risk with little reward, only amongst hardcore boxing fans would Manny Pacquiao get credit. Normal average joe fans wouldn't of heard of Joshua Clottey.
So i really doubt Manny Pacquiao's team will take this fight, style wise Manny Pacquiao should win, because Joshua Clottey goes into too much of shell. And he never seems to take that extra step to become a truly elite fighter.
But you never know Joshua Clottey is a big guy, with very good countering abilities and a good defense. And even though his KO ratio isn't great, i still think he can hurt Manny Pacquiao.
But as i said i doubt it happens, although it would be very impressive if it did happen and full credit to Manny Pacquiao if he does indeed take the fight.
Im a Floyd Mayweather Jr fan, but if its true that Floyd Mayweather is taking on Matthew Hatton, then i will lose some respect for Floyd Mayweather Jr, why the hell would he want that fight ?
He already got the ring rust off against a fighter x4 better than Matthew Hatton, Matthew Hatton is a good journeyman fighter at best. Who hasn't even really got a big following, even though he's Ricky Hatton brother.
Why not take on the Berto/Mosley winner ? why waste the fans time with this rubbish ?
well the fight weight was 149 and he weighed in fully clothed with a coat, jeans etc so not easy to tell what he really weighed
i agree with everything else, odd choice of fight for pac, big big risk.... and if he beats clottey alot will think 'so what, clottey was already beat by cotto ... it means nothing'
