My harvest so far 2010

I have to admit when I read the subject title, and seen who started it, this isn't exactly what I thought you would be harvesting.

Self sufficiency is the way to go this century, so that is good to see. Farming will be where it's at as the decades unfold some more. I can't seem to give out any rep, so will just say that even though I don't like broccoli, that is a very good picture of a head of broccoli. In terms of tastiness the tomato is probably more my thing.

In Quebec, it is quite common that most family on the countryside (or a lot of them) are growing their own veggies. I remember when my grandma and grandpa used to be a bit younger and not on the verge of going back to earth (so all my youth), they had that incredibly huge garden with any veggies you could possibly hope for. Today my mom, her brother and 2 sisters all have their own gardens and the day I'll have a home, if I have enough land, I think i'll do the same; There's nothing as good old vegetables from a garden for taste and freshness and as Killersheep stated, it is quite rewarding to grow our own stuff.

New transplants, Romaine lettuce, not sure if the it will get too hot before they grow, but I'm gonna take the chance.

Young and Old Rosemary, the old mature one is ridiculously huge.

Yeah it feels great working the land, as a note to what you said you don't need a lot of land to grow some stuff. A pot with a tomato plant will provide tons of tomatoes if you keep the nitrogen levels correct. Almost all herbs too can be grown and thrive in small pots.

I've gotta say for some reason the idea's always appealed to me but I've never done it, partially cause I've always lived in apartments after I left my parents house. Even then I could do herbs or something. My mom grows herbs, when I was home for the holidays made some rosemary chicken and spaghetti sauce with the basil, was good.

Yeah Basil and Rosemary are really easy to grow inside and they are not picky about being watered and stuff, in short if you give them attention once or twice a month they'll do fine.

Oh you definitely don't need that much land for sure but in Quebec, it is quite common to have a big piece of land and peoples often make a garden by summer that could provide them for almost all winter with stuff, a tradition that comes from the old days where it could take hours to go downtown by winter because of the huge amount of snow with your horse and sledge. One of favorite part are the spices I think, there is nothing like fresh home grown basil and rosemary.

Nice produce though. If I had a yard i'd love to grow fresh organic vegetables. Nothing can beat homegrown quality.

At a friends house she has some standard mint growing underwater in a tall white square ceramic pot.

Its been in there for about 7 months .

It just floats in there suspended roots and all it looks great.

We are slack, we just got herbs and mints growing throughout our scenic garden we have got silver beat though thats too easy youjust snip off what you want.

Its nice to steam some up and then drop two soft fried eggs over it, cut a tomatoe in half fry that too, some salt and theres breakfast.

I've got a lemon tree and a avocado tree...

Other then that I like to grow roses.
