Atrocious score cards. I hate this sport.

Sad but true. Boxing will never be attain even a modest level of credibility.

At one point if he had been in a fight like that the judges would have mailed it in for Ouma too. I don't have a problem with scoring the ninth round 10-9 but you know they were just looking for a reason to.

You know, and let me preface this by saying that I have been drinking, but I really hate all the nuanced aspects of boxing scoring. Whoever wins a round, or a fight, should get the victory. None of this prospects getting the benefit of the doubt or champions/the hometown fighter being automatically given the close rounds. It really drives me nuts and I know from talking to a few people that it is something that tends to baffle and turn off the casual fan.

I was pulling for Kassim and I thought he won the fight, but being the "opponent," I knew he'd have to dominate Vanes just to get a win. I figured the knockdown was enough, though. Bad decision if you ask me.

I agree with pretty much all of that. Welcome to the forum.

    Thanks CFH.

What did you all think of the Top Rank production? I didn't notice it until the end of the main event, but they never had any kind of CompuBox/punch stats. The announcers were alright, but they didn't question the Ouma/Vanes decision at all.

The line of the night was during the fight with the 17-year-old rookie, when they said his opponent last fought at Captain Bob's Bar 'N Grill. Something like, "Not exactly Madison Square Garden ... but there have been a lot of fights there."

I thought it was ok, given the circumstances. It wasn't Showtime/HBO calibre, but I thought the announcers did an ok, if unspectacular, job.

FYI, Julian Jackson's son got KO'd in the 1st round on the undercard in a non-televised fight.

I didn't even know he had a son in boxing.

Julius Jackson (cruiserweight) is now 3-6 after the loss, his 4th in a row.
