I didn't say he was a great fighter. He was a very good domestic fighter who thought he was fighting another very good domestic fighter from the US. Instead, he got a rejuvenated Ward, and he was never the same after. My point was that many people don't rate Ward's win over Neary very significant, and as far as I'm concerned, going on the road to beat Neary was as good a win as Reggie Green or and better than Sanchez.
Neary would have had a better career if Ward hadn't put that beating on him.
