Meeting the girlfriend's family for the first time

My girlfriend's mum died last week and we went to the funeral yesterday.

It was the first time I had met her family.

I've been lucky in general with step family except once where both of the girlfriend's parents of the time used to be psychologists. Can you imagine that, I was analyzed all the time. At least, they both said to her that I was the best guy she ever brought home. Still, the Dad was ok the mother was absolutely un-bearable and overly protective.

The irony.

In my defense, apparently that she's been like that with every guy that ever crossed her front porch. Though they both apparently liked me, it was never that fun going to her place.

Hehe, it's all good, I knew but I felt the need still to justify myself a bit more and I could have well still done even without your post. But you should have seen my face when his father invited me to the living room, made me sit on a leather couch, sat in his lazy boy with crossed legs and a hand under his chin (no joke), I was really anticipating something like: "So Matt, tell me about your youth".
