Default Am I the only one who thinks Mosley/PBF is going to be a complete blowout?

I understand that Mosley is riding a huge wave of popularity right now, because he absolutely destroyed the monster of the WW divison, a guy who people accused Floyd of being afraid of. And Mosley is one of my all time favs, so I hate to say it, but does anyone else see him getting completely blown out of the water?

I mean even in his time, he got flustered by the slick, defensive minded Winky Wright and Vernon Forrest. Floyd is better than both those guys (RIP Forrest, no disrespect) in just about every catagory I can think of. And sure, he looked great against Margacheato, but before than he had a close fight with Mayorga. Boxing "experts" have been claiming he was over the hill for the past 5 years or so. Margarito is slow and he's easy to hit. Floyd is neither of those things.

I just don't see him being compeditive with Floyd at this stage in his career. Anyone else seeing it this way or am I just being cynical?

My gut feeling is that it will be a lopsided UD for Mayweather, but I don't feel that Mosleys age will be the biggest thing going against him, if it plays much of a role at all. Shane is still going to be much stronger than Floyd, which wasn't the case against Winky or Forrest for the most part. You've got to think, Floyd is a much more negative fighter than those two, he isn't about to walk Mosley down with his jab, and even if he did employ a similar strategy, it would be great just to see Shane land half as much on Floyd as he did Winky and Forrest. As many seem to feel from reading posts on this board, Mosley will probably really struggle to get a rythym going, find a way around Mayweathers jab and find openings with any regularity, but he should clearly be the agressor from start to finish, and he hasn't shown any signs of gassing late in fights despite his age. Generally guys who lose a step or two get shown up against the younger fresher guys who have more tenacity, as great as Floyd is I really don't see him as the type of fighter to make anyone look old. If Mosley wants to fight at a slow pace, then Floyd will let him, he's not going to be looking to take risks and bring the fight to Shane. I think the early rounds should be extremely competitive and great to watch, Mosley still has very fast hands and hits much harder than Floyd. If Floyd does win by a good margin no doubt everyone will point to Mosley being old, but I really don't think Shane has any less of a shot now than would have been the case 5 years ago. Ten years ago is another story, but I just don't think of Mosley as an old fighter.

Yeah Mayweather lost 4 rounds to Zab Judah and was knocked down.

Then lost 4 rounds to Oscar Delahoya en route to a split decision.

I had him winning 116-112 clearly tho myself.

He also had a competitive fight with Ricky Hatton up til he caught him comin in with that great counter left hook.

And now suddenly he's gonna win every fukking round against "Sugar" Shane Mosley and easily beat the man with one hand tied behind his back ?

Sorry but I don't think so.

i think it's going to be a competitive fight with sugar initiating the aggressiveness in every single round. similar to the dela hoya-floyd fight sans shane gassing out in the late rounds.

I'd be surprised if it was any closer than 118-110/117-111 in favor of Mayweather.

I think Floyd will win this fight, but it won't be a 12 round domination. Mosley is a very strong and quick fighter. As said earlier, Zab Juddah gave Mayweather some problems, and Mosley is still very quick and a slick fighter, as was Juddah. Mosley will win some rounds, but Floyd is just so damn hard to get any good clean shots on, and will end up with the decision.

If Shane retains his speed and power coming into the fight , then as i have said in other threads , i see him flooring Mayweather and winning the fight.

Shane has great hand speed and some long ass arms which will benefit him greatly but he loops too many shots which is very bad.

I just don't know. I think you have to look at the flipside of that coin. I still believe the layoff has hurt PBF but he was just fighting a smaller man in Marquez. Mosley is just as fast and can still throw combinations. Mayweather is once punch and move and he uses his slickness to evade punches. Mosley doesn't miss all that much but he may land it with an open hand ( not a closed glove ). Mayweather has to counter you to really do damage. IF you look at Mosley's loses Winky and Vernon. These were strong fighter's not necassarily the slickest or the hardest punching but they were just physical with Shane. I don't think Mayweather is all that physical of a fighter he is just too damn elusive.

Well that being said I don't see a blowout.I think this is a winnable fight for Shane if he takes the early portion of the fight and finshes strong like he usually does. But then again who the hell knows.

Complete blowout, like Gatti? Because other than Arturro who did he completely blowout that was naturally bigger than him at a championship level? Honestly, this looks to be a real nice fight to me. Mosley on the back half of his career, with power, speed and stamina against Mayweather at what should be the height of his career...Will Floyd outslick a guy like Shane? I don't think so...Will Floyd be physically too fast for Mosley, maybe...but a blow-out, I'd be very surprised.

I think Floyd wins, but I really think this will be a tougher fight for him than a lot of people believe.

I think it'll be just like these fights. Mayweather tests the waters for a while, gives up a few rounds, then makes the proper adjustments & wins the rest of the way.

I do think to the majority of the public & the judges, Mayweather will win a solid decision. Although I think Lederman will reward ineffective aggressiveness & give Mosley more rounds than he should. Then Mayweather haters will run with it & say Mosley was robbed.

No way, this fight is going to be actual the best of the year in terms of what it means to the boxing world and the significance to the WW and P4P ratings. I think we are going to see something special and one to remember in 2010. I think Floyd will take this out of the bag and take a UD though.

I think your the only one. I don't see Floyd bringing the fight to Shane. Shane will be the aggressor and Floyd will try to spend the fight making sure nobody gets hurt.

Floyd will spend the fight trying not to fight. Which will be far from a blowout. He's gonna fight like he did against Baldomir but Shane won't let him.

I think people don't recognize the dominance of Floyd mayweather. Because he is so passive in how he fights. His speed is flashy but he doesn't avoid punches in fan friendly styles like whitaker or Roy jones. Also he is amazing in how economic he is offensively, but people don't appreciate it. Statistically he dominated Oscar and hatton but they looked like they were competitive because Floyd doesn't dominate guys physically like mosley or Roy jones did. Nor does he have the power to overwhelm guys ala pacquiao. If you look at fights with a technical mentality he is just as dominant as Roy or Pernell.
