De la Hoya said the same thing. They are talking about pure one punch power. Pac overwhelms his opponents with barrages of punches from all angles. Thats what does the trick. And Clottey always waits for his turn to punch. Pac doesn't give you a turn. This fight was very predictable.

Is Clottey reluctant to engage? Afraid to engage? Or has less openings to engage?

Pacquiao just doesn't give time to engage...Look at most fighters or fights...One guy gets off with his combo steps back resets in the meantime looks to avoid getting hit....

With Manny he throws 5,6,7,8 or more punches at a time and just as he steps back he is in again...He never stops coming add that with speed you miss and it allws him to get in 2 or 3 clear shots w no defense to cushion the blow...Just too much at one time

Not re-watched the fight sober yet but although I was annoyed at Clottey for covering up and throwing nothing at all, Pac did make it very difficult for him. Literally every time Glottey dropped his shoulders to throw something Pac was already on him. Pac gives you absolutely no time at all...

Where as Pac may not hit as hard as other fighters at this weight/level he's definietly one of if not the quickest! This more than makes up for any supposed lack of power.

On a side note, has the tread starter got a link to this comment as I haven't read that anywhere? A good judge of Pac's power would be Cotto and do remember him saying how surprised he was at Pac's power...

    Pacquiao is extremely fast.

Pacquiao's speed, workrate and angles is what overwhelmed Clottey.

    Not his power.

Clottey is in no position to comment on Pacquiao.

No matter how much some of us wanted Clottey to produce something, most of us knew what would happen. It was predictable. You knew Clottey wouldn't throw many punches nor take the fight to Manny. And you knew Manny would likely throw a hundred punches a round as a consequence. A wide points win was always the most likely result.

Who are all these people who said Pac pushed it too far by fighting Clottey? Clottey Clottey has only registered 1 KO in his last 12 fights. He wasn't going to outbox Pac. Pac had already KO'd De la Hoya, Hatton, and Cotto. Clottey is the most stationary and the least offensive fighter Pac has faced. Read the threads. I and many other people predicted Pac to win by easy decision or late round stoppage. How could you not have seen this coming? What did you see in Clottey or Pac that made you think differently? I hope you weren't just going with blind hope.

exactly, there was a "I'm PRAYING for a Clottey Victory" thread for a reason, cause it would have taken a miracle for Clottey to win

What killed me about that fight was that Clottey would land and get Manny of the defensive. Pac would back off and cover up, and Clottey gave him the time and space to recover. He was landing well. He did some damage to Pac and he could have done more if he would have just followed up his own work.

Clottey doesnt have the skills or the killer instinct to do that. Its why he was chosen as an opponent. All he could do was cover up. Its a pretty basic defence but Pac couldnt break it and Pac marked up alot from the few shots Clottey did land. Floyds defence is far more layered and he would land more counters so Pac would mark up considerably more. I still doubt the fight will happen unless Pac is willing to budge. If he has grown dependant on these Peds then he wont take the test but if he isnt on anything then I think he will eventually agree to random testing and we will get the fight we want.

Floyd has business of his own to deal with 1st but I think he will beat Mosley on points.

Clottey is full of shit (lol..ok bad joke) clottey didn't throw punches for the same reason dogs chase cats. It's just his nature. The only people dissappointed in this fight were those who expected clottey to do anything different than he always does. You don't have to beat clottey, he beats himself. You could just as easy win rounds against this guy by throwing punches off his wrists and just looking busier. I've been practicing fortune telling and can predict his next fight too. He'll show up, huge as hell, keep his guard up not throw punches and loose. Pm me if you want the prediction of his fight after that, i've seen that one too. Congrats to pac for staying calm and at least trying.

I don't think Manny does hit that hard. It's the volume and speed that overwhelms people and they can't keep up. I think the Hatton KO was so bad because Hatton's chin has been on the wane since Tyszu. Collazo nearly had him, Urango rocked him to the body, Mayweather did a double KO and even Lazcano had him wobbly. Stick him in with Manny who has pop and punches from angles you aren't expecting and out you go. Cotto has holes in his chin and has been regularly checked on his way up, but it was the ref who stopped it, Cotto would have got through the round. DLH wasn't knocked down and simply quit and Clottey made it through by not punching back. Manny has power, but I don't think he has the same one punch power of a fighter like Mosley.
