Right, I was going to go for 'he is the uncle of the man that jumped'. But then I see the first line is 'the only son' which means that the person that jumps can't be the man's brother's kid because he hasn't got a brother.
Ah! He's his dad. His son has jumped. 'the father of that man is the son of my father'. As he is the only son of his father he must be his father.

I voted for the uncle of the man but after getting out my paper and pen and going thru this my answer is now the man in black is the jumpers father.
