I voted for the uncle of the man but after getting out my paper and pen and going thru this my answer is now the man in black is the jumpers father.

confusing at first and after seeing the few posts I see the others were confused also.

The Man In Black Is The Father.

the only son of a systems analyst who is wearing a black T shirt is walking across the street. when suddenly a man on top of a tall building jumps and landed in front of the man walking.

Bystanders asked the man wearing black. "Who is that man?" referring to the one who jumped from the top of the building. The man in black answered.

"The father of that man is the son of my father"

Wait... who is wearing the black shirt? the only son of the analyst or it's the analyst who'S wearing a black shirt? makes the thing totally different.

That depends how one interprets the first sentence, hmmmm, who being the key word, (I think, fingers on my temples) if the systems analyst is wearing the black shirt and walking that would make them brothers.

Miron Lang stated: this is what i typed. The man wearing black and the man walking is one and the same person

I got this from my teacher in Cobol Programming.
    ------------------------------------------------------
CHANGE OF TWO WORDS, taking out who, adding and after shirt, that makes it easy.

(The only son of a systems analyst is wearing a black shirt and is walking across the street)

Damn teachers, Miron put all logic aside, put your boxing skills to use and go knock this guy out.

    Here is the issue.. PUNCTUATION..

    If it says:

the only son of a systems analyst, who is wearing a black T shirt, is walking across the street.

Then, the son of a systems analyst is wearing a black T-shirt and walking across the street.. THEREFORE, the answer to the question would be that the person who jumped is the SON if the son of the systems analyst. OR in other words, the systems analyst who is wearing a black T-shirt is the father of the person who jumped.

    If it says:

the only son, of a systems analyst who is wearing a black T shirt, is walking across the street.

Then this would mean that you have two people originally. The only son AND also a Systems Analyst who is wearing a black T-shirt. Therefore making the person who jumped the SON of the systems analyst wearing a black T-shirt. BUT, this is impossible, because we know that the systems analyst wearing a black T-shirt only has one son, and he was walking across a street and was not the same person who jumped off of the building. The answer would be that the systems analyst who is wearing a black T-shirt has two sons, which is impossible. Therefore making the only logical answer, that the correct punctuation is the first paragraph i wrote in this reply.

HOW the hell did anyone get UNCLE?

he is also the son of the Systems Analyst, We only have two characters, this man and the man who jump from the building. So there's no really complication there.

I can see this is simple to some but a real puzzle to many

I already stated that we only have two characters. The man walking which is also the man wearing black and is also the only child of a systems analyst, and the man who jumped.
