I said it would do 600-700k buys
Why the hell dont you all just give up trying to predict things and just come to me when you need a question answered??
one dangerous horrible bloke
Would it have made a difference if HBO did 24/7 or the fight was made at a later date?
700k is huge on anyone's scale, except for Mayweather negotiating scale. I think promoters are dreaming that PPV's will get any larger that 1.5 million in today's economy and add that to the Internet's live streaming.
Put the fights on pod cast at $5 right after the live event maybe delayed for 2 to 3 hours and I think there lots of downloads especially if news gets out that it was a good fight.
That's a decent number, I thought it would do a little less than that. Although I think the problem that Pacquiao has is Arum always oversells his numbers, just the other day he was saying it looked like it was going to do an easy 900,000, which can lead it to look like a failure.
Like Fenste said it was not until DLH did Floyd become a PPV attraction....Also his PPV high buys are with opponents Hatton who was a PPV attraction himself so that helped....
His return fight w Marquez and that was contributed to many expecting a for sure bout with Manny right after so curiosity on how he looked plus Marquez fans added to that buy...
I would like to see the numbers of him against someone of Clotteys status popularity wise
Hidden Content
That's the way it is, not the way it ends
Honestly, I was actually expecting a little higher but it makes sense as Clottey isn't cared about and also, I think people under estimate the power that the 24/7 show has for fight promotion.
Also Daxx, Hatton is only a real ppv attraction in the U.K and Marquez hardly has fans. Didn't his bouts with Manny do like 200-300k? I think Floyds star power shines a little brighter than people give him credit for - Whether it was because of Oscar or not, he's still the new Mr PPV.
Hatton is a bigger name or was a bigger name then given credit for...But there are UK residents and such in the US as well....
Marquez has plenty of fans...As for the PPV sales for him and Manny weree not too much different then PPV sales of lower weight classes especially under 130 this is nwhy there is not too many PPV fights at that weight...
Floyd Marquez did so well because of the
A possible PBF Pacquiao bout
People wanted to see what if anything Floyd lost during the layoff
People wanted to see how he did win or lose against Marquez....
If he won how much did he dominate...If he lost the possibility of Manny Marquez 3
They played big factors in that....
3 fights with Big PPV numbers that had circumstances around them do not qualiofy as the PPV King.....
Is Floyd the PPV king? It takes more then the 3 bouts this is being based on to assure that..I am not saying he might not be but people are jumping the gun....The Mosley fighthas drama around it aside from them 2 finally meeting...The whole Manny PED thing will help boost the sales added with 24/7...
I laugh because people have compared him as the next DLH in PPV but the day Floyd is able to sell PPV the way Oscar did with shit unknown opp will be the day he is the next DLH in PPV sales
You can say Pacquiao wasn't a PPV attraction till DLH as well.
And that Pacquiao's fight with Clottey contributes to many expecting a bout with him and Mayweather eventually especially after the drama after the first fight falling apart, they wanna see the "guy that Pacquiao is ducking" as these sportswriters like to make it seem.
People try to make it sound like Pacquiao being foreign is a disadvantage to Mayweather being American.
The flaw in that statement is that there are a lot of American fighters on the scene to pick and choose from in different weight classes.
Pacquiao has an entire country behind them. There aren't that many Filipino stars on the world state or lining up peoples p4p lists to pick and choose from. It's more of a country pride.
In one breath people say that Pacquiao being foreign and achieving those numbers puts him ahead of Mayweather cause he is american. Yet in another breath it's said that the only reason Mayweather had big numbers with Hatton was because Hatton was foreign and had a country behind him.
Which one is it?
It doesn't matter what the excuses are, Floyd is the current PPV king, this fact cannot be disputed. He is the biggest draw on PPV, respect must be given for that.
Manny in his own right is a genuine superstar of the sport and has crossed over, this fact can't be denied as a lot of people on this forum say he's not a superstar and a cherry picking bum that doesn't deserve credit for his boxing career.
