Blows to the Head: How Boxing Changed My Mind

"`Why am I fascinated by boxing?' asks Binnie Klein. And like a savvy fighter, she approaches her question from a variety of angles: Is it to do with being Jewish? Being a woman? Approaching middle age? Is it about family history? Klein tackles these questions with a deft and admirably light touch. The result is the warmest, funniest, and most tough-minded boxing book I've ever read."

Kasia Boddy, author of Boxing: A Cultural History "...[a] delighted tone permeates Binnie Klein's memoir of her boxing obsession ... [the] passages are lean and strong, and convey the allure of pushing a body and mind past their usual limits ... [Klein] doesn't hold back from considerable self-reflection, but it never seems self-indulgent, only pensive." -- ForeWord Reviews "A graceful, deft celebration of body and soul. Brava to Binnie Klein for tapping her strength--physical, emotional, and spiritual--and for telling a knockout of a personal story."

Ghosts of Manila: The Fateful Blood Feud Between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier

    By Mark Kram

When Muhammad Ali met Joe Frazier in Manila for their third fight, their rivalry had spun out of control. The Ali-Frazier matchup had become a madness, inflamed by the media and the politics of race. When the "Thrilla in Manila" was over, one man was left with a ruin of a life; the other was battered to his soul.
Mark Kram covered that fight for Sports Illustrated in an award-winning article. Now his riveting book reappraises the boxers -- who they are and who they were. And in a voice as powerful as a heavyweight punch, Kram explodes the myths surrounding each fighter, particularly Ali. A controversial, no-holds-barred account, Ghosts of Manila ranks with the finest boxing books ever written.

Jesus Christ Chris! That J.C. Thomas book is fantastic!

Did he write anything else? Any more info about him? Cos I'm finding it hard to find anything more out about him than the raving exagerations on the back of the book

He also wrote Boxing's Dirty Tricks and Outlaw Killer Punches. It goes over hitting with the sides of the glove, headbutting, and leaning in a clinch. There's no other info that I can find on him other than that he used to advertise his books in Ring Magazine many years ago.
